The point here is... do you think Rodney Stuckey or Joe Dumars would have played in insignificant conferences at little known schools if they had standing offers from Kentucky and Kansas?
 No way.
Trey Ziegler is going to have those kind of offers and if he turns them down to be in a much lesser conference and play and practice against much lesser talent, just to play with dad...to each his own, but I think that's an iffy decision. TIA.

If memory serves....Stuckey was recruited heavily by Washington and Washington State, but bad grades, off court issues, etc. scared them away and that was the main reason he landed at EWU.

For everyone one off example you can name there are tons of players that from big time programs making it to the NBA.
Do you honestly think that Charlie Bell, Mo Pete, Ager or some of those guys would have made it to the NBA if they went to CMU, WMU, EMU, or some other MAC school?
Again, everyone makes their college decision based on criteria that is set by them. If this kid's dream is to play for his dad then good for him for having that chance. If he is a one and done type of player than it may not matter as he's good enough for the NBA anyways. However, if the kid needs to develop he will have a better opportunity to do that at a big time school.

yes i do. BTW Charlie went over to Europe, dominated and is now with the Bucks. He didnt get drafted so your point is null there

Not really. It's obviously a point that can not be proven conclusively one way or the other, but the point I was making was that he further developed his skills by playing in the Big Ten and playing for Izzo. The fact that he played somewhere else between MSU and NBA doesn't change that fact. One could easily argue that had he not played for a big time program he wouldn't have even been able to play in Europe and therefore never made it to the NBA.

One of my best friends brother played ball at GVSU a couple years ago. He plays in Finland now. The reason why he is over there is because a scout liked what he saw in an open gym in Boston. A ton of kids with just plain talent make it to Europe and the NBA.

While a big is priority
He is a talent and if you can find a scholarship (Nix redshirts so less need for a big in 2010, several bigs in 2011, etc) then you want him.

UCLA just got a verbal from a 4 star SF named Mike Moser. So to recap
2009 verbals:
4-star SF Mike Moser 6-7/185
4-star C Anthony Stover 6-10/207
5-star SF Tyler Honeycutt 6-8/190
4-star PF Brendan Lane 6-9/200
4-star PF Reeves Nelson 6-7/215
2010 verbals:
4-star SG Tyler Lamb 6-4/190
3-star SG Kendall Williams 6-2/160
So not only is UCLA pretty much covered in SF and SG spots, they are running out of scholarships to offer

Thunder Dan from TC, Big Ben from East Lansing and GR's Chris Kaman in the last 25 years.
Who else?

Was at the game tonight.
MSU impressive in easy win over Alcorn State | detnews.com | The Detroit News
Quote:
Top recruit attends
Trey Zeigler and his father, Central Michigan coach Ernie Zeigler , attended the game and sat five rows behind the MSU bench.
Trey is considered by Rivals.com a four-star recruit and one of the top 75 players nationally among class of 2010 prospects.
The 6-foot-5 guard attends Mount Pleasant and also reportedly has interest in Michigan, UCLA and his father's program.
The Detroit News ranks Zeigler the No. 2 player in the state behind Detroit Pershing guard Keith Appling, an MSU verbal commitment.

Trey is not M's to lose...yet. And I would be shocked if Trey was the first out of that group to commit to M...more likely that Kearney would drop, which would help them with Trey.

Hoops: Zeigler updates his recruitment
Chris Balas
TheWolverine.com
Mt. Pleasant (Mich.) High class of 2010 standout Trey Zeigler is living up to expectations that accompany his No. 75 overall ranking … now he's hoping it translates into a few more wins for his team. Zeigler continues to hear from a number of schools and has plans to take visits this spring …

From:
Game 25: Michigan State at Michigan Post Game | UM Hoops.com
"Quick Notes: Trey Zeigler was at the game and got an earful from the Michigan State team as they ran by after the final buzzer."
Not sure precisely what that means, but interesting.
