Can't say that I blame him. But, if he wants to stay in the State and be close to his dad - then I'm sure would love to have him. Then again - it's not like his dad is in the most secure environments and he could easily take another job at another school - so being close to family isn't a sure option either.
My bet - UCLA.

Here's a Larry Brown type scenario except dad is qualified.
Ziegler Sr. gets the ziggy and son chooses MSU. An MSU assistant gets a HC gig and IZZO hires dad.

Of if you're a Calipari/Huggins/any multitude of other guys like that:
Monty lands a HC gig, Sr. gets the ziggy, then hires Sr. on the condition that he brings junior along. Oh, and being the son of an MSU employee, he wouldn't even need a scholarship.

Hasn't Izzo said in the past that he's against those types of package deals like Floyd at USC has done a few of?

That's a half-schollie, not a full one.

It would seem like Wilson's commitment to Oregon would be play out HUGE in Trey's interest in playing for Izzo and the Spartans.
Without Wilson playing in front of him, he could see substantial PT as a frosh and be "the Man" by his sophomore year similar to Lucas.

....and Dotman was shot down in a matter of minutes by Tom Beaver. Not sure who to believe there, but we've JUST been spurned by Wilson and haven't had time to apply the full court press yet, plus Trey just told the Detroit News (think it was Markowski) a few days ago that he'll trim his list to 3 by the end of summer. Doesn't sound like the kid's ready drop....

PG Kalin Lucas, SR
PG Korie Lucious, JR
SG Durrell Summers, SR
SG Chris Allen, SR
SG Keith Appling, FR
SG Russell Byrd, FR
My concern is that we will have no PT for this guy. I think he will see the depth we have at guard and go somewhere else.

There's more playing time if you consider that MSU is probably going to run a three guard offense that year and that three of those guys are seniors. I could see Zeigler starting by his sophomore year with a backcourt something like:
PG Lucious
PG2/SG Appling
SG/SF Zeigler
with Zeigler playing the role Summers does now when he's out there in place of Morgan with two other guards.
The time is there to be earned; I can't imagine it'd be a big deterrent.
I'm excited about the possibility of a recruiting bounce after the Final Four.

dont we hear this every year? we use a deep bench. unless the kid is thinking about being a one-and-done then it wont be a problem

I hear you on having a deep bench. My point is that we will have six guards that year if Kalin stays his four years. If Ziegler wants to start as a freshmen it probably wont be here.
Another thing I was thinking that could work in our favor. Maybe Ziegler fills out to 6'6 or 6'7.. then he could possibly start at small forward as a freshman.

As I said, he could very realistically start as a sophomore. It's not even clear we're going to recruit a true small forward in the next two years. Wasn't Mo Ager our starting "small forward" for two years? But you're right, if starting as a freshman is a requirement MSU probably isn't the place.

Bench wont be an issue if you consider that we've played Summers at SF a lot this season. if everyone stays that would leave us with
PG: Lucas, Luscious,
SG: Allen,Appling, byrd
SF: Summers, Zeigler
PF: Roe, Green
C: Herzog, Sherman, Nix
We'd be small at the SF but otherwise thats a nice line up.
