BTW, they're saying this guy could be a top 100 player in the country his senior year, possible top 50.

Is he a lock to play for his dad at CMU?

May want to play in a conference that actually gets its games broadcast on TV. CMU can certainly send guys to the NBA, but he might be best off at a MSU, UCLA, etc. His Dad might feel the same way, and might get him to take some visits, and check out his options.

Not to mention his dad might be gone from CMU by the time he goes to college........If CMU gets turned around, Zeigler could very well find him on the 'short list' of some bigger name colleges.

saw him play at the Mustangs Tourney a couple weeks ago, and I don't see anyway this kid goes to CMU, unless playing for his dad and being the #1 option are at the top of his list. He's a high major talent, for sure.

His dad coached at UCLA IIRC
He may have friends or family in LA. He definitely knows Howland.

I think he ends up at UCLA. I just get that feeling from the latest update on Spartanmag. I think we are looking at Byrd as our #1 SG/SF for '10. It is still so early though, so you never know.

Did you miss the part about wanting to compete for national championships?

I don't get that feeling at all. The kid wants to win. Michigan isn't going to be winning anytime soon. I don't know how he would feel that he'd compete for NCs there. It's still very early in the recruiting process to be commenting on who has offered and who hasn't.

Like I said, it's just my gut feeling (based on the current public facts). I certainly don't have any inside knowledge or expertise on the matter like some on here.
Not sure I agree with you about it being too early in the recruiting process to comment on what has happened so far. I mean we do have a recruiting thread on him on this very site. There are several schools (including MSU) that seem to have offered as well as at least two very high profile schools mentioned that have expressed some level of interest but not offered yet.
I agree things can change in the future. Hell, they sometimes change on signing day but in no way is it too soon to comment on what has happened so far.

Well, of course the Michigan schools are going to offer him first. We've seen him more often than they have. What I was saying that it was too soon to say things like UCLA won't push hard for him because they haven't offered yet. He hasn't even started his junior year of high school. Give it time.

Thread From Draft Express
Some stuff on Trey and his play at the recent Adidas Nations in Dallas. His 2010 team beat the 2009 team in the finals. Below is a link to his profile at DraftExpress.com.
