Just read this on Rivals.... Doesn't say much about MSU, but does say that we have shown interest in the 6'10" big man from Cali...

previously recruited him: USC, UCLA, Texas, Arizona State, Kansas, Memphis and Ohio State

According to Sidney Sr, a number of new schools are now in the mix.

"Louisville is now in the mix," he added. "So are Michigan State, Syracuse and UCONN."

Huh. That'd be quite the coup.
I wonder if the reference from Sr. is a good sign or bad one. On one hand, MSU is such a strong family recruiter maybe it's helpful that MSU is in the forefront of his mind. Then again, perhaps the dad is more interested in being a Spartan than his son is.

I'd take a Sherman/Nix/Sidney/Wilson class. Hello 2009 National Champs!

This is the type of guy that if a 4th ship is used in '09 that it has to be on. A Top 5 Player. It's a long shot but it reminds me of Ed Davis last season when he added MSU to his list. It looked like at the time Roe was going to UNC.

he's got a lot of schools he is interested in

a few things I picked up from the article...

1. Like mentioned in the quote, his dad seems to play an important role on the school he chooses = strong family ties
- the bad: I think he is from LA, which is a long drive to see a spartan bball game

2. He supposedly has incredible skills as of RIGHT NOW - NOT a prospect

3. He works hard to improve his game - the article stated that he has taken up boxing to get into better shape and to improve his hand-foot-eye coordination
- can you imagine sparring with a 6'10" dude? ---- DONKEY PUNCH

# 3 gives a good idea of what kind of kid he is, so it seems. If he already knows he is like the #4 stud in the country - some might just sit back and be cool with that - but he is actually working harder than most other prospects just to tweak/improve his game that much more - sounds like a hard working guy who might appreciate Izzo's style of coaching

If we were to get him and Wilson...... some of our other bigs might not be too happy

This is the kind of recruit that the established programs get on a regular basis. UNC, Duke, Kentucky to name a few, are able to pull recruits from any region of the country. This is not a knock on Izzo. I love what he has created and I love the way he has been able to build the program around recruits from the midwest (for the most part).

After watching the Dexter Strickland saga play out, I would not get my hopes up on this kid.

Nix would simply take the redshirt that his current position on the developmental curve suggests that he take. I think the addition of a player like Sidney would be good for Nix in the long run.

Unless Izzo has changed his recruiting techniques to that of Tim Floyd or Calimari, this kid aint coming to MSU. There's a lot of "baggage" surrounding him

I believe Reebok is now part of Adidas, merged a few years ago to challenge Nike. His father is a "consultant" for Reebok.

Sidney has created a quite a buzz throughout his high school/AAU career.

He actually named Ohio State his leader some months ago. He's since reshaped his list and I don't believe OSU is in contention any longer.

OSU was the rumor for quite a while. It appears that now UCLA and USC are more likely. Based on the discussions I've read, USC appears to be a better fit.

Well, there have been numerous threads in the past on tRCMB discussing how nice it would look if MSU would brick the facade of Spartan Stadium.
