Don't we offer
just to stick it to Ryan?
Not too familiar with Vander. He's gotta be awesome with a name like that.

this has been in the works for a while. He will almost certainly choose between Marquette and Minnesota.
In the past 2 days, since this dropped, articles in the Madison paper have been savaging the kid, including "sources" from inside the UW athletic department claiming it's all about academics, with one even saying that the kid's college will have "junior" in front of it. They're pathetic in Madison.
And yes, the kid is incredible. A buddy who saw him said he's the best guard in WI he's ever seen.

Saw the article in the Madison paper...good for a laugh. Despite what the resident experts on the badgermaniac board say, you can take a guess where the story came from, Schultz is one of the few with access to the program. Michigan fans joke about Izzo's rep with the media, calling him St. Izzo...noone has it better than Bo when it comes to the local media.
I saw Devin Harris play in high school and Blue isn't on his level, but he's very good. A slight step ahead guys like Wes Matthews (who was also really good).

I saw Harris in HS too, but as a junior - he wasn't nearly as good as Blue, but he made major strides as a senior. Before he blew up his senior year his college choices were Central Florida, who he chose over Creighton.
Not only does Bo have is made with the local media in WI (the Madison papers planted "editorials" urging Brian Butch to choose them using the whole "if you go to Wisconsin you'll be a legend and always be able to get whatever job you want, that won't happen if you go to Marquette, Kansas or UNC." It was sickening) but he has many of the WI HS coaches in his pocket. There is going to be a war declared on whomever between Marquette or Minnesota ends up getting Blue, led by Bo. This is going to be fun to watch!

Perhaps the Spartan fanbase can write an editorial to Blue campaigning for Marquette!

John Wall Commits to UK
Quote:
Top point guard recruit John Wall has told Kentucky coach John Calipari that he will sign with the Wildcats over Miami and Duke, according to multiple sources, ending a highly publicized courtship with the game-changing point guard.
Wall informed Miami coach Frank Haith Tuesday morning that he committed to Kentucky because he just wanted to play for Calipari.

Perfect match. A one and done player with a questionable character playing for Calipari. Cal is going to have to implement a new recruiting strategy at Kentucky. Instead of mixing in one and done type players, he will have to mix in guys who plan on graduating from the university in order to avoid losing scholarships.
Regardless, Kentucky is going to a tough team to beat while Cal is there.

the SEC is still extremely weak. kentucky should be the favorites to win the conference title.

People forget that for all the hoopla around him, Calipari has never even won a National Championship. He's had very good teams and made two Final Fours, but it's not like this is Roy Williams or Coach K. The goal of winning a championship is not what has brought all these players to Lexington.

Don't look now, but Gregory might get a steal: Ohio SG Cameron Wright, who was committed to OSU for a long, long time until Matta "Rodriguezed" him, has offers from all reaches of the Big Ten (Minny, Wisky, IU) but recently visited Dayton and the Flyers are squarely in the picture:
Former Ohio State hoops recruit now looking at Flyers
Article also mentions wing Brandon Spearman (#71, Rivals) visited Dayton recently too. If Gregory is able to pull these two in addition to the already committed stud PG Juwan Staten, and keep super stud Adreian Payne home too, he's looking at a top 10 class.

Anyone seen him play?

So could we take 5 for 2010 if with Horford and Zeigler want to commit? Would we need Kalin to go pro after his Jr year for that to happen? I am NOT suggesting that we push him out the door, but it is a possibility.

More Cincinnati Link-O-Rama and King James Skills Academy reports
Here's another Courier Journal (this time Rick Bozich) link so some before mentioned topics. The new news here is the Florida Gators all over Jon Horford. And Demling refers to him as the 6'9 Jon Horford. If a 6'9 Jon Horford exists, he will be a popular man. The 6'6 Jon Horford was starting to draw a crowd. courier-journal.com | Rick Bozich blog | The Courier-Journal

2010
I would be really happy to get Payne. I know this may be more of a longshot than Ziegler or Horford, but I would lean towards Payne.

I agree. I'd much rather have Byrd and Zeigler returning as sophomores in a single class for depth and experience. Talent is talent, but another big makes the class balance at positions less optimal.
Taking a 2010 wing also leaves the door wider for Price in 2011 and I'd like to see that.
I think Guana stays committed regardless. He seems to have his heart at MSU>

its gonna be interesting because i think izzo wil take the first one to commit and then really start to focus on that 2011 class and i think you could see a committs from that class drop pretty quickly as in later this summer/fall....
