He's the same size as Corey Lucas. They may be related. I have seen this kid on several occasions and he can score, defend and and flat out play! His basketball IQ seems to be quite high which puts him in the upper class of point guards! He is a good fit and will get an offer from MSU, eventually.

Seriously?

What? You guys have never heard of Corey Lucas? He started all season along with Tyler Walton, Raymond Morgan, David Roe, and Gilbert Suton. Final Four! Duh!

Can we please quit wasting time, effort and scholarships on Big 9 basketball players? The conference has yet to kick out a high producing D1 basketball player since.......Roy Marble maybe? The talent level is simply not there at this point - nor has it been for several years. And for the record, I went to school in the Big 9.

Lets get this kid in, I think he turns out to be one of the best, if not the best player in the state in a loaded 2011 class....great point guards win big ten titles, go to final fours, and win national championships....

Question Question RE; Lucas-Perry

Any time I read about him he doesn't seem to be as highly regarded as the other local PG in his class, Brundrige (sp?) I think. However, I frequently hear Spartan and Wolverine fans alike talk about him in glowing terms like he's Kalin Lucas Part 2.

What gives?

So is he better than Brundridge? Anything I read seems to indicate the contrary. Or is this maybe one of those "player X is better but player Y is more realistic" deals?

Brundridge is a scoring point guard and he gets his points by blowing by his defenders or using his muscle to get past them. At this point he does not have a consistent three point shot and definitely has a scoring mentality.

PLP is more of true point guard in that he facilitates the offense and takes his shots when he needs too. He's an extremely smart player for his age and is a great leader already. Also he prides himself on being a lock-down defender.

Major, major differences between the two. PLP is a Big Ten point guard, period. Brundidge? Not so much, at this point. Very talented player, no doubt, but he *really* lacks necessary PG skills (isn't great at seeing the floor, not a great passer etc.). Unless he develops in a major way, he's going to have to play off the ball at the next level, and not a lot of 6'0" SGs make it at the high major level.

Junior achiever
2011 prospect Carlton Brundidge (Southfield, Mich.) slashed and shot his way to 27 big points in the U-16 final. Brundidge knifed through the defense to score on strong drives. He is a capable shooter from long range, but he is at his best punishing opponents on his way to the basket. When he gets a head of steam with the ball in his hands, the defense gets out of his way. He was able to get a lot done by sprinting the wing hard in transition. He plays with relentless energy and passion, and refuses to be denied when he wants to score -- even gathering his own misses for putbacks. It is also important to point out that Brundidge continued to make plays on both ends of the floor even in a stretch during the first half when his shot was not falling.

Soaring wing
LaDontae Henton (Lansing, Mich.) also provided offense for The Family in the U-16 final. Henton was beating his defender off the dribble to score. The lefty showed a nice midrange game. He is able to secure the rebound on the defensive end and outlet or lead the break himself. When he outlets it, he continues to run the floor, often getting a return pass or getting a tip-in. He is not afraid to chase down a loose ball and dive on the floor. He operates well from the high post area. His strong body allows him to finish through contact and maintain his intensity throughout the game.

Didn't PLP's brother transfer to scUM?

That might hamper his recruiting, no?

Watch the video just before your post. PLP's sister went to MSU also.
