I know, right?! This is one time that I hope I am proven brutally wrong. From everything I have seen and read, even if he ends up not being the most talented kid in the world, he is the type of guy you want in your program - hard-worker, good kid.

what about....

Hey Marlowma, you seem to know so quite a bit about the kid, so I am sure you are aware of the kid's mom and sister rockin the "LL Cool P" shirts (apparently his annointed name) and screaming for him to shoot the ball everytime at AAU tourneys....or better yet, how about his family walking and him prancing around the gym with "Fear the Hyphen" (i.e. Lucas-Perry, hyphen, get it?) gear....sure the Spartan Nation is ready for that headcase? Izzo's probably not...kid is decent, but have a hard time getting past the whole fearing the hypen and LL Cool P biz

really....

when you recruit a kid, you regrettably recruit their family too....If anyone has seen the LL Cool P traveling circus you can appreciate what I am saying...It is a frickin joke. Dont under estimate how problematic that can be....and before you give Izzo the credit for controlling family members too and minimizing such think back a little bit in Spartan history... remember... Marcus Taylor?

Taylor was the top recruit in the country. PLP isn't near that. Izzo will be fine with LL Cool P

not fearing, or feeling "The Hyphen",,,,,LL Cool P three ring circus = potentiall Marcus and James Taylor debacle. Elite programs dont need that potential baggage....you recruit families when you recruit players

Patrick Lucas-Perry has flown under the national radar a bit this summer and he played in Orlando over the weekend ($). Here’s a recent scouting report from Slam Online: “This rising junior has good court vision and did a great job moving the ball up the floor. He made a couple of impressive entry passes and also found a way to get himself to the rim. Patrick can knock down the 3-ball and also does a nice job in getting to the free throw line. He is definitely a sleeper!”

PLP went for 18 in the game Telep saw in a loss. Said he was quick and shot well...no surprise on any of these fronts.
MSU gets him and point guard is set for awhile

4) Don't act like an "insider" unless you are one. If you really do have some inside info on a recruit, then please send a PM to either AASpartan, or me with your info and source, and we will clear you to post it. Otherwise, we will have to assume that your "inside info" was poached from a pay site, and we will delete your post.

There's a rumor this morning at the Scout board that Izzo is no longer pursuing PLP. Not sure what to make of that.

I imagine it's one of three things, in descending order of likelihood, I'd say.
1) Something cooled in the relationship between MSU and PLP
2) The staff really likes their chances with Jeremiah Davis and prefers him for now.
3) Izzo thinks Kearney can contribute enough point minutes for MSU until the presumed big-time 2012/2013 PG class arrives.

(I know about "3," but there's been speculation that BK has some point skills and potential. I have no idea if Izzo buys into that or not.)

A Poster on SM says the staff thinks that BK will be a PG.

Izzo will never under recruit the PG position again. Appling and BK both can play some PG it sounds like but it also sounds like neither is a true PG. Maybe he like Davis or someone else better and thats why we have cooled on PLP (if thats reliable info). I guarentee that we take one true PH in 11.

Yeah, that's been the talk on Kearney for a while, that he has the potential to play some point guard minutes. At the same time, I've read people who say they've watched him and aren't sold. At 6'5" he'd be a lot to handle for smaller guards.
I would think of it this way - Kearney will probably be an even better "emergency" point guard than Chris Allen, the guy fulfilling that current role. Still, I'd imagine most of his time will be on the wing while he's at MSU.

Sam Hosey's update on MSU's recruitment of PLP...

Quote:
Yep, kid had MSU as an option. Probably not one anymore...personally, I'm not worried about either party though...kid comes from a GREAT family and of course MSU will be fine.
