I couldn't imagine why he wouldn't want to be at MSU, but until he announces his commitment, everyone else is merely speculating.

Either A) The Detnews has well-placed reliable sources that can confirm this, or B) this is horrible journalism. I hope it's the former.

I know Kearney has been suggesting otherwise (for obvious reasons) but I wonder if the relevant coaches already know the decision.

anyone think this gives us a bit of an inside word with Ziegler because Kearney and Ziegler are AAU teammates?

If it sends any signal at all, and I'm not sure that it does, in my mind it's a signal that Trey won't be a Spartan.

Just pure speculation on my behalf. I'm just thinkng two players who play the same position on the court and are, at the very least, familiar off the court are not going to end up at the same school due to PT issues. In other words; if Brandon is coming to MSU it's because he knows that Trey isn't.

I would have to agree with you on that. The guys have played together and are friends. They must have discussed this with each other. Although, if I was Trey I would rather go to MSU and have Brandan pick another school.

Zeigler has West Coast written all over him. I bet he ends up at UCLA.

Back to Kearney, though...

Kearney absolutely has an MSU offer so we can update the title in this thread.

From what I've read around the interwebs is that with his height they are looking at him as a plan A shooting guard. He can play the point, but they like his size on the wing. The other kid that we are supposed to be in good with is Jeremiah Davis out of Indiana. He also is combo guard, listed on most recruiting sites as a SG, but he said in an interview that Izzo has told him his role on the team would be as a Point Guard.

The class of 2011 will have a chance to step in and get some minutes immediately with the graduation of Lucas (I hope he stays), Allen, Summers and Thronton. That's a lot of mintues to fill for guards/wings and I'm thinking that some of these better players are looking at that as just another reason to go green.

Take this for what's its worth, but the first person to mention Payne's presence at the Iowa game (as far I know and I'm pretty sure I'm right about this) also said that our first 2011 verbal was confirmed at the game. He said it was something we'd all been expecting but it was solidified there. No name (just like Payne) but the inescable conclusion was that it was Kearney.

I think we're in pretty good shape for Kearney, but then again I thought we were for sure going to get Jamil Wilson too. I've learned that until you hear it from the kid and it's reported by a Rivals or Scout reporter all speculation and guessing is just that. Speculation and guessing.

That being said I love tracking this stuff. I'm a nerd.

I have to agree, as much as i love the regular season, I love the information and excitement of recruiting.

this is one of the only things I pay a lot of attention to on tRCMB. Recruiting high caliber kids and trying to find out what is going on is tons of fun.

I hope you're right. All points lead to that, but I'm still holding my breath.

I was just going to post that. Reports were that he was at the game against Northwood. If he's not coming to State I don't think he would be showing his face around tBrez.

9 stars in 6 days. Not too shabby
