BotB take from last night:
Quote:
-From all the information I have gathered the past week or so, I would be very surprised if Brandan Kearney, a 6'5 JR G from Detroit Southeastern doesn't select Michigan State tomorrow. According to sources close to the situation, Kentucky made a late push, to try to delay the commitment of Kearney but the Wildcats didn't offer. Michigan, was once the leader for Kearney, but when Carlton Brundidge, a 6'0 JR G from Southfield committed to the Wolverines, things changed. Ohio State has also offered, and Kearney is also considering Georgetown and Minnesota. Stay tuned for more info!

Is Calipari out to get Izzo. First the helicopter ride to Dayton Jefferson High and now the last minute "push" for Kearney.

Nothing on the UK boards or blogs mentioning Kearney.

This from Best of the Best Basketball Scouting - "Kentucky made a last minute push to try to delay the commitment of Kearney but the Wildcats didn't offer." See link several posts up.

We got him?

According to SM, we got him. Problem is, the link says the article is unavailable. Did they jump the gun? It's on their front page now.

True that were 2-0 against Calipari, but we're also 3-0 against KU. Byrd, Payne, Kearney

We'll have more press conference coverage later today but I thought this was a nice quote from his father...

Southeastern star Kearney commits to Michigan State - SpartanTailgate.com
Quote:
“How can you say no to Coach Izzo, a top-five coach in the nation?” said Derrick Kearney, Brandan’s father said of the decision.

Hopefully the past two days help eliminate Izzo's concerns about how difficult it is to get good recruits to come play at MSU. The tides are turning!

Darlin (that seems weird to write, but that is your handle), I think Izzo will still talk about how tough it is to recruit against the big boys. However, he never said you can't win those battles, and get superior talent at MSU. I mean, look at his success: Cleaves, JRich, Randolph, Taylor, Torbert, Brown, Morgan, Summers, Lucas, Allen, Lucious, Roe, Appling, Payne, and now Kearney.

Izzo's point is that he has to work harder than guys like ol'Roy, or Bill Self, or Calipari who just walk into a home and say, "Hi, I am from UNC, Kansas, UK", and the kids fall all over themselves to sign on the dotted line. Izzo needs to try harder. But, he always does. That is why he wins; that is why he is .

No. 24 SG?

Is the article correct? Is he the #24 SG in the country or the #24 player in the class that happens to be a SG? I assume the latter, but just wanted to check due to the wording.

Scout has him ranked as the #9 SF and #42 overall.

Rivals...#23 SG...#90 overall.

Even though both sites are very good and credible, I usually go by Rivals for my football, and Scout for my basketball.

Don't forget Green was once a UK commit.
