Pic shown on Scout front page article about MSU extending 2 more offers. Not a premium member so I can only assume that one went to him.

His dad has been quoted as saying the entire Big Ten has offered except NW, and rumors on Bell's site that Gibson and Kearney have been offered. See the '11 thread.

Is Kearney a lefty? If so, he did some quasi impressive things against pershing in the psl championship - but didn't finish on anything.
I'd heard his name prior to the game, but really couldn't identify him during the game.
Trust in Izzo...

Someone on another forum a LONG time ago (like jan or dec.) said that Kearny was a soon to be MSU commit. I have heard though that he likes UofM and OSU, so I am not sure what his stance on us now, now that he has an offer. Also, where does it say he cannot shoot? Isn't he more guard than forward?

saw him play this summer against DCD and he is a handful, but a bit of a tweener. Plays hard and attacks the hoop, but not real athletic. Takes alot of bad shots and forces stuff which would never fly at State under Izzo. Might not be the best fit, but a nice solid DI player.

I like what I hear about Jeremieh Davis, Tommie McCune, Dwuan Anderson, and MSU is even in the top ten for (oooohhh) five-star wing Branden Dawson.
However, if Tom Izzo wants Brandan Kearney, I want Brandan Kearney.

Kearney...
Why is everyone bashing him so much? It seems like he would be a person we want first and foremost according to a lot of the recruiting sites, saying how good he is.

No one's "bashing" this kid. Sounds like you're ultra-sensitive or a closet scUMmer trying to get some unsubstaintiated rumor started.
People are discussing the pros and cons of possibly welcoming another Spartan to our party!
It's all good.

No i'm not starting a rumor i just don't know how people are debating according to Best of the Best Prep Basketball Scouting he's like the best 2011 player in the state. And i think we should be excited that we are first on his list.

I'm just going on what I viewed with my own eyes when I saw him play Pershing in the finals of the PSL Championship and to be honest, I wasn't very impressed. He has great size for a wing but he drifted around during the game, his shot was flat broke and he played very weak. Who knows, maybe he was injured or sick. With that stuff you never really know but it wasn't a good showing.
Now if he commits to MSU...I'll get on board like a good Spartan but the fact remains, he definitely appears to be a work in progress and I'll remain skeptical until I see proof to suggest otherwise. That said, you can't teach size and length...and he certainly has both.

Not ripping you but can you honestly say after seeing a kid play one game that he is "a work in progress". Understandable when you say that you were not impressed but that was only one game. I have not seen the kid play (hell I have rarely seen any of these kids to have any legit opinions) so I have no opinion on him but after only one game I do not think you can have an honest take on a kids game.

I said that after watching him play he APPEARS to be a work in progress. And I'm not the only person who watched him play last season who thought that and I don't think everyone saw the same game that I did. The kid has a lot of work to do. He has poor mechanics for a wing and his effort was below average and for someone who was purported to have PG-like skills, his ball handling wasnt up to snuff either. again, I'm just giving my opinion of him based on the one game which is probably one more game than 98% of the people who post in here have seen.
Don't get me wrong, he's got a lot of potential (great height, length and quickness), but he also has a lot more to work on than I anticipated prior to seeing him play.

for reference have you seen any other high major recruits play? I ask because I'm usually underwhelmed when I see high level recruits play.

Kearney sets Nov. 3rd commitment date *|*Next Generation Sports
Wow, I'd heard he was moving his decision up (he'd originally said summer 2010) but here's a free article that throws it right out. Nov. 3rd, 2009. Whoa. I wonder how that will move some state of Michigan recruiting dominoes.

“The recruiting process has been fun but it does get tiring being away every weekend. I have seen and talked to everyone that I need to. That’s why I have decided to keep my recruiting open for a few more weeks and make a decision on November 3rd,” states Kearney.
