I don't think you should read this as suggesting that. Even if Izzo uses all 4 2010 scholarships, he'll still have 4 open for 2011. MSU is going to need (probably) a PG, a wing, an inside/outside guy (if available), and a big. Sampson would fill that need as a versatile inside/out forward (or perhaps a pure PF). Regardless, taking Payne + one post player in 2011 would give 2010-2011 and 2011-2012 the same number of bigs.
Payne is likely to WV but I wouldn't read too much into this offer.
