I think my liver hurts
Is this possible? Does your liver have nerves? It aches when I bend a certain way and when I sneeze or cough. Also when I lay on my right side. It started last night and I am beginning to get a little worried. What can cause this?

Yes but the pain is right where my liver is. Directly below my right rib cage. I thought that the appendix was lower.

Appendicitis is an inflammation of the appendix , a 3- to 6-inch hollow sac attached to the large intestine (colon) at the point where the large and small intestines join. The appendix is located in the lower right area of the abdomen.

Did you go overboard this past weekend?
When I turned 19 in Canada, all waking hours from Thursday to Saturday night straight. My liver did not like me the next day. I could only sleep in the fetal position on one side b/c my liver hurt so much. Good times....

The following symptoms may mean you have appendicitis. - You have mild to moderate pain in the abdomen that begins around the navel. This pain occurs throughout the abdomen and is not severely tender to the touch.
- The pain becomes more intense and then moves below the navel on the right side (the lower right quadrant
). The pain will be steady and will get worse when you walk or cough.
- Sometimes pain will be felt in the upper right quadrant.
- Nausea and a few episodes of vomiting may occur, along with loss of appetite. Diarrhea is not a common symptom of appendicitis in adults, but it may occur in young children.
- Other symptoms can include constipation, back pain, slight fever, and a general feeling of being unwell (malaise).

Great. I don't like the sound of this at all.
It started hurting worse last night as I was trying to sleep. I think I better go to the doctor.

 Well that sucks.
But why a lower GI for liver/gall bladder? Hopefully an MRI or xray can assess the situation.

try Gas-X
seriously, gas build up can often result in the same symptoms as appendicitis etc. I was about to go to the emergency room once since I thought my appendix was about to burst, I took some Gas X and problem was gone, a major gas build up doesn't always equal farting all day

I don't think excessive gas is the problem here. I've been having pain since Sunday.
