How this guy still has a job is beyond me. Quality writers they've got down there. Does Valenti ever call this guy out on the radio? I'd love to hear it. Embarass this douche publically.

i love it!

this thread needs to be bumped a few times per year for two reasons: to expose it to anybody who hasn't had the pleasure of reading it and to make me laugh hard enough that it hurts

I love this line (it's a close call, there are so many good ones).....

I'm going to read this line every time I need a quick chuckle or pick-me-up...

Lucky? Not. But it's true, he hasn't had to really deal with Michigan other than to slap 'em down. And appears to be poised to do so for many years...

The free pass has been canceled. Michigan vs. Michigan State is an even fight again, and it's going to be a fight. The Spartans are ahead now, and will be a factor as long as Izzo is in Lansing, but in the long run my money is on the guy who's too busy coaching to appear on the radio.

This might be my favorite... the 17 year old kids now were 2.... funny! Also, I like the "mark it down" point.

A lot of those kids are now going to the Nike or ABCD camps, and they remember those years. Most of them can't name four members of the five, but it doesn't matter. When it comes down to Michigan vs. Michigan State, Amaker vs. Izzo for a recruit, the Fabs are going to be a tie-breaker. Mark it down.

not defending Carty's idiocy but the guy did subsequently admit he was just plain wrong. More then most chuckleheads on this board can do......especially when the idiocy was published and has a picture attached to it....unlike the nameless and faceless idiots we have to deal with.

So while I am amused as anyone by the bumping of this lunacy (hindsight is 20/20).....look back on the some of the naysayers/soothsayers on this board and be amazed by their idiocy.

While some of us may have post totals that lead you to believe otherwise, writing posts on an internet message board isn't our full time job. We don't get paid to write here (though I should).

Hard to argue with that analytical response.

Carty gets paid to write. We don't. How you can expect the same level of accountability is beyond me.

I don't fault him for writing the article, or even being wrong. I fault him - a supposed professional writer and journalist - for crossing a river with a bridge that isn't even there. For him to suggest that there is a link to Izzo going on ESPN at halftime of a game and him losing his focus and drive is simply irresponsible journalism at it's best, and plain idiocy at it's worst. That's why I make fun of the guy.

your response was typical of your douche persona. I wouldn't expect anything less. Again....he gets paid to write.....not predict the future. It was a stupid "prediction" and the guy has said as much.....so he was "accountable". More so then most writers are.

and again I didn't defend the idiocy of his prediction.....I have laughed at that along with everyone else.

Nice backtrack, but your original posted criticized the "chuckleheads" on tRCMB - not other professional writers - for not being as accountable for their opinions as Carty supposedly has been.

So whose the douche here - me or the guy whose defending Carty's stupidity?

Ok, I'll settle for "both."

Ok, I'll settle for "both."

Not really....first statement was "not defending Carty's idiocy".....and then pointing out that he had the balls (which give him credit for...most journalists don't) to admit he was just wrong.

I could probably look at various predictions made by the "chuckleheads" (myself included) who posted in this thread and find numerous occasions where they were just plain wrong.....however never owned up to the fact.

Me thinks that Jim Carty will go to his grave while still getting dissed from MSU fans about that ridiculous article. I have no problem with the crap he's getting, since anyone that writes something so stupid deserves everything he has coming.

Doesn't sound like Beilein is counting on a win against us any time soon

This is college basketball at its best, you know. We just have to improve so we can make it a game until the end and sneak out of here with a win one of these years.
