Hoops brown and izzo's response to alford's flex

article

Quote:
FLEX APPEAL: Iowa coach Steve Alford was shown flexing his muscles in photos on Internet message boards after Tuesday's victory over MSU. The pose apparently was a response to guard Shannon Brown's flex after a dunk during MSU's victory over Iowa last month. Some Iowa papers also reported that Hawkeyes forward Doug Thomas did the flex after a slam. Brown said he hadn't seen Alford's pose, "but I have no feelings about it either way."
As for Izzo? "No comment," he said. "I'm saving it."

Alford mocks Shannon Brown
Did you see the photo from an Iowa paper that showed Hawkeyes Coach Steve Alford doing a two-arm flex during Iowa's victory over Michigan State?
It was in response to Shannon Brown's pose after a dunk during MSU's 30-point victory over the Hawkeyes earlier in the season.
Iowa's Doug Thomas also apparently mocked Brown after he made a breakaway dunk late in the game.
(I was on deadline writing and missed both the other night).
Under the circumstances, Michigan State's players really can't be bothered that the Hawkeyes rubbed it in their faces a little bit this time considering Brown's antics last time. Brown took his celebration a little too far last month, but that's the way it goes these days in sports.
But for Alford, 41, to respond? That's just silly. Leave that stuff to the players.
MSU Coach Tom Izzo was asked for his reaction and he said, smiling, "No comment."
hmmm.....

Izzo is savy, he is not going to play that stupid BS game. Alford is a tool. Players are one thing. Coaches do not do that sheieiet.

"...after Brown's antics last time." WTF Antics? Brown gets intentionally fouled, not on an alley oop, but on a breakaway, makes an incredible ESPN highlight, gets knocked on his ass, drags his face off the court from a cheap shot, and sends a message the the ****er who hit him with: I am the man, strong like bull.

Oh please...antics.

BTW, may too much is being made of this. Although I do find it funny how a team who gets beat down by 30 on the road, thinks they have that kind of sac. Hey Iowa, when was the last time you won the B10. Thought so. Please.

And he was covered in cheerleaders with the Breslin going nuts and cameras in his face. Hard to not shine a little bit there.

Come on, if you think the Iowa reaction was classless, you cant not think that Shannons was a bit. I dont see where its a big deal either way.

As for winning the Big Ten....I wouldnt speak so loudly, as this may be the second consecutive class to graduate without a Big Ten ring.

Yes, because a player doing something in the heat of the moment after a great play is the same thing as an opposing head coach remember it and taunting the player over it a couple of weeks later.

What? Drop a 30 point victory on UM like we did the mighty Hawkeyes? I don't expect this game to even be close with a liquored up Breslin, just like when UM pulled one out of their arse in 2003 and then had to come to E.L.

Didn't MSU win the home game vs Iowa that year?

Actually that year we only played SCUm once, they didn't have to come back to Breslin.
