Couldn't be more true. All Davis has shown is that like Nick Collison and Chris Mihm, he's about as good now as he's ever going to be. As for Shannon? The sky's the limit (imagine him in Phoenix, or playing with LeBron). I'm really happy to hear that he's sliding into the first round, regardless of how it affects MSU hoops. You can't pass up a guaranteed 3-4 year contract worth that much money. It took Charlie Bell years to get to where Shannon is about to go.

Good luck Shannon.
Can't believe we'll be looking up in the standings at UM next season.

Well good luck to Shannon. We'd all love to have him back but he has to think about his own future. Personally watching the games last year I never thought he was ready for the NBA but I hope he does well.
This year's team may be brutal especially without Shannon

Nobody stays in college forever.
He'll go down as one of the greatest dunkers in MSU history.

Good post. That's why I'm pulling for Davis. He seemed to plateau after his sophmore year. If Davis doesn't go first round, he'll be the poster child for declaring early when the opportunity arises much as Marcus Taylor is the poster boy for declaring when you're not ready.
Oh yeah, thanks for the good years Shannon - give em hell in the NBA.

Brown is doing the right thing. Think about it. With the talent we have returning there is no way we win the big ten. OSU is going to win it. No way we make the final four. We may not even make the tourny. We are rebuilding now and Brown knows this. Why risk injury playing on a 500 team next year? Good luck Shannon!! You were a great Spartan.

but I hope he does well. In all honesty, there isn't a better time for him to go than now. His stock will drop if he comes back and plays on a crappy team. Opponents will doubleteam him and he'd be frustrated if he came back.
Thanks Shannon!

Shannon 06 = Anderson 05
Alan also wowed scouts in pre-draft workouts. And one could argue AA was more suited physically for tNBA (size, quickness, ability to finish). I love Shannon, but I have a bad feeling draft night would not be a good night for him. He is not tall for a 2 guard. His handle is not great (something he could work on in the next year at MSU). He might get drafted in the 2nd round, or sign a free agent deal, but I'm not sure that is enough to stay in the draft.
If he stays in, I truly hope he is a first rounder like the scouts are projecting. And who knows, maybe what everyone else is saying about Davis could be true about Shannon. Perhaps next year he would struggle with double-teams and being "the man". Its pretty much impossible to predict from a fan's standpoint.

I am already sick of this opinion. Why is everyone anointing OSU the champ? What did the Fab 5 ever win at UM? Plus, Indiana will be pretty good, as long as too many don't transfer. Illinois will be strong. Wisconsin will be very strong (Tucker is back, right?). I'm not going to pull a SpartyScott and bet money against OSU, but I wanted the dick-sucking to stop until we see their team on the court playing college basketball.

Absolutely. Oden might be the real deal, but coattail Conley is way overrated. Where will their guard play come from? I'd think that the Badgers will be the pre-season favorites.

Well, I'm not saying they won't be the favorites. They still have Jamar Butler at the point. He is underrated in my opinion. And they have Ron Lewis coming back, who will probably start the 2. There lineup should be:
Starters:
Butler
Ron Lewis
Ivan Harris or D. Cook or D. Lighty
Terwilleger
Oden

I don't doubt that tOSU will be the media preseason pick. There are just a bunch of morons that will go with the trendy pick afterall. If the coaches do indeed cast their ballots and don't let an intern do so, I doubt they'll vote tOSU.

Shannon could still be harmed by his measurements. When he goes to Orlando, and they bust out the measuring tape, a lot of teams will make up their mind on Shannon based on that.
The Brown family and Izzo are doing this the right way. Work him out for teams, get him to Orlando, and see where he ranks after that. If he's first round, he should leave and we should all wish him well. He has been a great Spartan.
Congrats to Shannon on a great workout.

Just as I expected. Good luck to you if you go though Shannon. No ill will if you go first round. MSU team could really really suck next year though. Like last place bad.

What a great spartan. Best of luck to him and his family as he grows into the NBA type. Hope he continues as a spartan and helps us recruit the chicago area, and wherever he ends up in the NBA

I agree to a point. MSU is now in rebuilding mode and not reload mode because of the week classes involving cracker magic and travis walton. It will take at least two more years for MSU to return to top ten form. Hopefully, this will happen when Kalin starts playing at the point. As Bolley says, cracker magic dribbles too much. Brown needs to leave now. Good move on his part.

What did he say that was off base? The fact is there were two weak classes that led us to the predicament we're in. This program will experience a rough patch before getting back on top. Let's just hope it's not too rough, ala North Carolina (8-20).
