Rumors and now published reports have the Spartans very interested in former University of California, San Francisco 49ers and Detroit Lions head coach Steve Mariucci

Nice guy, but Mooch doesn't really excite me.

I love the picture of Mooch rolling his eyes.

Mooch would be a ****ing disaster. I'd much rather keep JLS for the next 20 years then let Mooch coach 5.

Some of them are sure to want an "MSU" man - someone who attended the University to run the program. Others will want a hot name like Rutgers' Greg Schiano, Miami's Randy Shannon,

Though not overjoyed at the prospect of Mooch, I'd take him over JLS in a heartbeat. The only way we could do worse than JLS at this point would be to reanimate Muddy.

If there's one thing that Mooch has proven, it's that he can definately turn a losing team into winners.

I like the propect of a former NFL coach, coaching the Spartans. He brings instant credibility to the program, which should help in the recruiting game.

While that is true, Mooch is a through and through proven loser. I'll pass. There's no need to even test him out.

I agree. But that West Coast offense has jumped the shark. Mason better be sure that he brings an aggressive offensive philosophy with him, if he hires him, given the track record.

I am not in favor of this move, but I am hearing that there is now interest on both sides. This has potential disaster written all over it. Hire a big time defensive co-ord and most of the problems are fixed

Mooch is not a leader of men. I want him nowhere near this program.

I couldn't care less what his offensive philosophy is... WHAT IS HE GOING TO DO ABOUT OUR DEFENSE?!

I think it's worth noting that Mooch was saddled with bloey harrington. Bill Walsh couldn't have run an effective offense with that loser.

If Shurmer really wants to get lay claim to a spot here, get a spot on Mooches' staff and show he get something done.

This explains the XM radio report wherein the reporter stated a coach had been contacted by the U prior to the season to see if there was interest in the event this season was another disaster.

Mooch was 60-43 with the 49ers, including four trips to the playoffs.

I thought you could read? I said in my previous post Mooch would lend instant credibility to the program because of his NFL head coaching roots and that fact alone would help with recruiting. I seem to recall the coach out at USC stunk it up in the NFL and turned that program into what it is today. Hmmmmmmmm.

As much as I think JLS is screwing it up, I would rather have him than Mooch. Sorry, but Mooch sucks ass and would continue to at MSU. Then when he was canned, Izzo would say "goodbye" as well.
