PS3 Preorders start tommorrow at Gamestop/EB.
And rumors have shipments being cut from 400K for North America to around 200K.

I just called my local EB in Canton, OH.
They said that they aren't positve, but they hear that you have to put down $400 to reserve.
I hope $100 is correct, come tomorrow.

There has been NO hype at all for PS3. I have yet to see a sign at best buy or any tv spots.

I heard they were NOT doing preorders since they didn't know how many units they were getting and that the unit may be delayed.

I tried to get one, for the resale value, but was shut out. Most places only had 4 available for pre-order, and the uber-nerds beat me too them, i was at EB at 10am, and they had given them out at 8am.
Oh well. $700 is WAY too much for a video game system.

Xbox360 has like 2 games worth playing, and jack **** coming on the horizon. PS3 looks to have TONS of fantastic games on the way for it. That being said, it's price tag is absolutely ASININE, so I won't even consider getting one until the price drops big time, which considering how much it is right now, and how many people will buy one right away, shouldn't be all that long. I pretty much abandoned Nintendo after the N64 came out, but I have to say, the Wii actually has me intrigued...

That is one of the most idiotic statement I have ever heard. The console choice is a preference, and anyone who says otherwise sucks. 360 will have its halo, PS3 will have its MGS and whatnot. I've always preferred PS for sports games, though the controllers for 360 have surpassed the PS2 in my opinion. They did this by making it more like a playstation controller, and keeping the triggers.
360 is obviously the best console on the market, but if you like PlayStation and its franchises, of course you are going to wait for the PS3.

We'll see where both of these consoles stand at this time next year. The price of the PS3 will undoubtedly have come down and we'll see how much 3rd party support each has. I think going with either right now is too much of a gamble and there aren't any games yet that has me missing either one.

The two 360 games worth playing are Perfect Dark Zero, and Dead Rising. Everything else that's decent for 360 has either a superior, or comparable edition of the same game for the PC or xbox/ps2. The only games on the horizon for 360 that won't be available for pc are Halo 3 (which I probably won't want, because Halo 2 sucked), and Gears of War.
PS3 owners can look forward to; Metal Gear Solid 4, Final Fantasy XIII, Grand Theft Auto IV (although that will no doubt come out for PC also), Devil May Cry 4, Resistance:Fall of Man, Ninja Gaiden Sigma, Heavenly Sword...and those are just titles for around launch date. i sure hope this comes out for the Wii...because i'd hate to miss it entirely but i won't pay over $500 for a system unless it includes every accessory and several top level games.

Have you heard rumors that it might? I highly doubt that it would. Squaresoft typically has not cross-platformed any of it's games, the sole exceptions I can think of being FFVII and FFVIII, which later came out for pc awhile after the PSX version had been out.

Umm...how about you actually list games that are launch titles? The only one on your list that is scheduled to launch by Nov 17th is Resistance: Fall of Man.
