Trevor, recruits can't sign with anyone until early February! Further, a top recruit who decommits is more likely to recommit if MSU hires a heavy duty coach vs. Brian Kelly. It's counterproductive to settle for a coach because you're worried about verbals in November. Much better to focus on the best possible coach now, who can get the signatures on LOI's in early February.

Roundhead, if the best MSU can get is Dubord or Darnell or someone of that level, it doesn't matter anyway. Why do you want guys like that?

I hate to say this, but this post is delusional.

Don't attribute a bad Shurmur hire to someone who thinks Kelly is a big mistake, and suggest it's the only alternative. That's 100% B.S.
I have the good sense to admit I don't know who LKS & Izzo have on their map, who they've already spoken to, who they like or what their plan is. With 120 D1 schools of HC's and coordinators, and the list of NFL coordinators, MSU's choice IS NOT Brian Kelly OR Shurmur, and it's pretty silly to suggest that.

So why do you leave the good ones like Pellini & Strong off the list, and substitute the failures?

No more so than thinking Kelly is ready to turn MSU's football program around when Nick Saban couldn't do it!

So who else is an alternative short of starting over?

If Kelly takes the ISU job, with all of the others falling by the wayside, Izzo may have to take over as HC, that is unless Gus Ganakas is interested

I have no idea, I'm not part of the search committee. Neither are you, so you don't really have any clue either.
That said, I'm pretty confident it's not a choice between Shurmur and Kelly with no other alternatives.

You said yourslef that the only thing saying Dantonio is out is a "lack of buzz". Now I'm not saying we aren't going to screw this up and end up with Shurmur but you and VB are freakin laughable with all this speculation. Seriously

I was thinking the same, but now I am worried that it would mean we hire Shurmur. Sucks that is appears to be coming down to Kelly and Shurmur.

In this sentence sucks could be interchanged with "expected" or "appropriate" Our football program is so f-ing pathetic.

And to think when we started this search all we heard was how great of a job this was. 3 current or previous NFL coachs called about the position. All this and we end up hiring a guy with no BCS exp. Maybe it ends up being a great hire, however it is not the risk I would take.
