No one. My bro had it and I was constantly trying to fix his comp. I was just pointing out that one bad product doesn't mean all of that company's products suck.

Let's hear some real reasons why you're so defensive when you see the words, "Buy a Mac."

Just wondering. . .
I love the irony of this thread, mrob, because you're probably the biggest culprit for turning these threads into flame wars.

Once you go Mac you won't go back. Now they even made the transition easier offering Windows through bootcamp. You have everything you can possibly want. I rarely use Windows unless I am running some real estate applications. I strongly prefer Mac OSX over Windows.

Nope not 700. But I think I spec'd out an 829 one from Dell.

Agreed.

Just trying to have a rational conversation, and not turn this into an argument.

So far, so good.

The fact is that the 2 platforms are not as different as they used to be, so all of the agita is much ado about nothing.

I'd just like to see 2 things:

1. Have someone say they are a Mac user and not get flamed.

2. Have someone ask a computer question and not see "Buy a Mac" as the response.

Both PCs and Macs are legitimate options, and advocates of each platform are understandably proud of their choice.

And let's face it--anyone who is posting on tRCMB is probably way too attached to his or her computer anyway!

Now, the guy you responded to may have been a little over the line, but just because somebody chooses a Mac doesn't mean he's been "brainwashed."

I dare say that between Microsoft and all of the various PC makers they spend considerably more than Apple does, and you don't think you're brainwashed, do you?

I have a six year old iBook that still runs the latest OS X. PCs are factory specced to only live half that long (my brother used to work for Dell )
Doesn anyone really get viruses anymore? Seriously?

If you buy cheap ones, I agree. Don't expect them to last.

That is the biggest problem. People buy PCs because they are cheap. Macs aren't but they last.

... there is another option too - buy an expensive PC.

People have the choice.

Spec for spec PCs are still cheaper than Macs. Even the higher end - so I'm not sure how you claim that Macs have "better parts".

For example, if you buy a $500 PC. Don't expect it to last 4 years (but having it last 4 years might not really matter to some people). However, if you want it to last 4+ years, you can 1) buy a Mac for $1200 or 2) buy a comparable PC for $900-$100.

There are also MANY other reasons to buy a PC over a Mac. (Just like there are other reasons to buy a Mac over a PC). Cost is just one of many factors.
