From everything I've seen and read, the phone will be awesome. From everything I've seen and read, the Cingular/ATT service will be less so.

I dont think you will ever see the price come down that dramatically because that is not Apple's style. They will keep the price pretty much the same but just keep updating it with new features.

I don't think you will have to camp out, considering that they won't be sold until 6 PM local time on the big day
Also, a lot of people will just be ordering them from the Apple online store.

I am happy with my phone service and don't want to switch to AT&T just to get an Iphone. All the trendies will get one but do u honestly need to have music on your phone? Maybe if you are a HS kid trying to be cool.

It'd be nice to be able to carry one device, rather than having both my iPod nano and my phone in my pocket when I'm walking somewhere. But not enough of a convenience that I'd switch service providers and drop $500 on a new phone. Maybe someday when my iPod dies, my RAZR stops working, my service contract expires, and the price drops a bit. But not now.

In a year, you will be able to buy one "unlocked" off of ebay or amazon

No way would I camp out for one. I think they'll be easy to find.

The music player is just a bonus as far as I'm concerned. What really interests me is the internet capabilities. I can't stand the browsers on most cell phones/smartphones. It looks like Apple got it right.

Actually, it's sounding very likely that there won't be any "unlocked" versions and AT&T will be exclusive for a while. We'll see...

I would bet a "hack" to unlock the phone will be out quickly or when the iPhone hits Europe. The euro (Tmobile?) or canadian (rogers?) models would be on ebay right away and like other similar models, unlocked.

Even if there is, it's not likely many of the iPhone's features will work on other carriers. The Voicemail interface for instance was specially developed by AT&T. I'm also guessing some of the internet features might not work as well. Seems like a lot to pay for a crippled iPhone (let alone a fully functioning one.)

Agreed. That's just not Apple's way of doing business.

Apparently Nintendo is developing a game pack for the iPhone.
Nintendo and Apple to partner on games for iPhone : Noheat - Tech News thats too Cool
Quote:
If you can’t beat them join them. With the iPhone days away from being launched Nintendo has apparently begun working with Apple, licensing a limited amount of content for the new phone. It was rumored a while back that Nintendo was planning on releasing a phone on their own, however this was scuttled shortly after the iPhone was first shown in January.
These exclusive games will be released on the iTunes Store at a $29.00 price point a few months after the iPhone launches. No word on whether Nintendo will be distributing iPod versions of these games. A major hangup in development has been the lack of buttons on the iPhone that was remedied by a touchscreen D-pad. One might wonder how Nintendo fans may see view playing on a phone without a traditional D-pad.

Youtube functionality was added to the iPhones today:
Apple - iPhone - Internet inÂ*Your Pocket
Also, people have noticed that in that demo there is now a visable SIM slot.

Why do you say that about the service? You think that the antenna on the phone will suck?
