I did it! 105 degree and 105 miles in Death Valley in 1 day. But it's nothing compared to what my wife and daughter do daily dealing with Type 1 diabetes.
I'm riding to raise awareness, to raise $$, but, at the end of the day, I'm riding so some day someone can say to my daughter...
"Ellie, when we were kids, what was it you had again?"
...and so I ride.

Apparently activation is taking forever. About 5 ****ing people have gone through. This was a mistake. But I'm in too deep to leave

****ing rubes standing in line for a cell phone. It'll be hilarious when people are just walking right into stores and buying them 2 days from now. It ain't the ****ing Nintendo Wii. It's going to be on stock. But hey, congratulations on waiting in line for hours.

No, ATT sucks and that is why I will wait until the third generation of the phone.

I can't say I'm surprised given the large scale nature of a worldwide launch and huge apparent demand, but Apple/AT&T should have planned better.

I saw a fairly long line walking into work. Nice to know those tools are still standing there.

Got out at 11. 4hrs in line. When I got there I figured I was close enough that I would get through quickly after 8. ****ing activation problems.
Went with the white one. I think I'm going case-less this time around. Black seems like it will be really smudgey and show scratches.
FYI to anyone who may try to get one today at an Apple store - make very, very sure you do not have a corporate account or any kind of ATT discount on your plan. You'll basically wait forever just to be told you have to go to ATT.

That sounds miserable. Why would you wait all that time?
Don't get me wrong, I fully plan on getting one down the line. But this just seems absurd to me.

It was miserable. I planned to get there early and check the line. If I was within 50 I figured I'd stay. I was damn close. Reports this week were that setup would take 15 minutes and they were letting in like 10-15 people at a time. I figured that was OK. That got shot to hell with the activation problems. At that point I was too invested to bail.
I won't try dealing with that again. And now, I have the phone in hand but activation issues persist so it doesn't really work yet. At least I can try from iTunes at home.

Another FYI if anyone has activation issues. In iTunes you may get some error message. Say OK and just leave the phone connected for 15 minutes or so. Do not unplug and replug. After 15 mins or so, just press the home key and see if it activated. I just did this and it worked.

It's good to see that Steve Jobs is, indeed, human. Not that this will shut up the Apple fanboys or anything, but everyone needs a good failure once in a while.

I wouldn't throw stones about geeky fan boys when you post on a message board to talk about your cell phone to prove a point that you're unique or something.
