Yeah, that locks the screen. I use it all the time. The apps continue to run though.

"Ellie, when we were kids, what was it you had again?"

Little more of a specific question, but, I've been trying to get medical applications on the 3G (5 minute consult more specifically). I have bought the applications on the website, but when I try to upload them to the phone, I can't find the subscription/application. Anyone have this problem or have problems with 3rd party apps? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
On a side note for any medical people out there, epocrates on the 3G is incredible.

You bought it from the iTunes app store? If so, all you should have to do is sync your phone.

Did not buy it from the apps store. Went on to my home computer, bought it from the website and then it said I could access it from my iphone. When I went to the site on my phone, I couldn't find it.

Yeah, the Blackberry maps and GPS apps are much better. Rumors are that Telenav is making an iPhone version though.
The store is impressive for one app? I haven't downloaded that app yet ... so I guess I should there are hundreds of apps. Having to much fun to get the paid apps.
My summary: The interface is fun. Not sure that it is any more functional than the Blacbkerry interface, but it is pretty and definitely more fun.
I miss the following (or maybe just haven't figured out how to yet). Not in any particular order:
- Edit a calendar entry (Help? This has got to be something that I just haven't figured out yet)
- Mark a calendar entry as private
- Search through emails by keyword
- Battery life!
- Blinking light indicator for new email
- Options for ringtones (time of day/in or out of holster/etc.)
- Syncing of Tasks and Notes
I'll keep it (at least until the Blackberry Thunder comes out). Again, I like it ... I just miss some functionality from my Blackberry.

You will a bit. So, I had my appt scheduled at the Apple store and the night before I had my iphone in my Blackberry case (because the iphone case sucked). It fit alright - I thought. Well, it fell out and hit the ground. You can hardly tell where it hit the ground.
Well, the home button started working. I was a little , but then - it is what I wanted. I went to the Apple store anyway and they "noted" that there was a problem and I would just come back if it acted up again.
So far so good though. It now works every time.

If you bought outside the app store, then I would say its not an "application" in iPhone terms. Its probably a website you go to. Did they give you a URL to access?

Board flaw. Deleted posts still show up in the page count.

Don't know. I haven't done it myself.

So I attempt to use my phone this morning to schedule a meeting with a co-worker ... I didn't see how you can invite someone else to the meeting. I've just got to be missing this, right? Even Windows Mobile phones have this capability.

Sounds like you are not missing it - Apple - Support - Discussions - iPhone 2.0 Exchange Calendar Missing ...
You could probably do it from your mail.whatever.com site. Crappy workaround, but it could get the job done in a pinch.

For those that want a web browsing MP3 player with phone capabilities, it may be nice.
However, if you want a true email/calendaring device it falls somewhere between Windows Mobile and RAZRs. Not even in the same ball park as a BlackBerry.

Your POP3/IMAP4 email is circa 1980's.

You sound like a massive douche. Why did you wait for hours on end to obtain this phone without doing your research?

1) I waited for hours on end?
2) I was instructed to evaluate the iPhone
3) Apple is targeting the phone to the business sector touting the Exchange integration. They have fallen short in many of their promises - so far. I have heard that future updates may add these necessary features that the business sector wants.
4) It is a nice phone - for some people. Just not for people that are more "hardcore" email/calendaring people in the business sector.
5) Massive douche? Who says that?
