3G started working for me around January. It seems apple has finally worked out the bugs with all the new sw releases, even battery life appears to last longer. No more dropped calls. I've changed my opinion on the phone now that it actually works. I just wish Apple would not be so anal about controlling apps. When is Starplayr finally going to be available w/o jailbreaking?
It seems every gadget these days is thrust into the market for Beta testing. To be honest, I had a lot of the same issues with my treo the first 6 monthes I owned it. I had to return it twice before the thing worked properly. I noticed in the system info screen, it had a higher Hardware revision level than the others.

The apps are really what make this thing cool. Being able to monitor and trade stocks anywhere you are is sweet. Using yelp, google or urbanspoon to find the nearest restaurants complete with reviews no matter what strange city you are in is really useful when traveling. Fake-a-call has given me an excuse to get out of boring situations. Tons of free e-books for stanza and now Kindle has an app. Facebook/AIM get around the need to pay for texting. Internet Relay Chat. Graphing, engineering, finance and electrical calculators. Dashbuster is cool if you have netflix or BB online. Once StarPlayr is finally released, you will be able to stream satellite radio, which is great because the Stilettos are awful.
Plus the ability to get around your works firewall.

I don't get this. Sirius offers online listening for free! Why do they care if someone sells an I-phone interface.

Yep...I've had iTunes for years and years and never bought a single song. However if I see a well reviewed app that I think I'll like, I won't blink at spending $0.99 on it.

Lots of final-ies. MMS, Cut/Copy/Paste (the UI for that looks awesome), and landscape mail. Turn by turn should be great. I think the last remaining hurdle is Flash.

Flash would be great. Push will be great too. They get a few more things and we'll finally have a real phone here Now I just need to wait until they jailbreak it so I can keep the apps that I've been using to make up for its shortcomings.

It is a start though.
- Better camera/video recording
- More alerts/sounds options (types, time of day determination, auto meeting determination, ability to configure two 'profiles' for the toggle switch, etc).
- Notifications without logging in
- Better Exchange calendar support
I'm sure that I can think of more.

And I do.
Especially the real lack of option for alerts/rings/etc.

I knew it was only a matter of time until you pointed out some of the business flaws.
I don't know if anyone will be able to fully handle both sides (consumer/business) and get everything right. Apple is doing a decent job of straddling the fence I suppose.

No doubt. However, apps aside ... there are things that I miss about the Curve and other things that I miss about the WinMo phones (however, those are quite a bit fewer).

My Verizon contract was up in February. I really want an iPhone. I investigated and was ready to jump the gun but then read extensive user reviews of AT&T's wireless service. The negatives outweighed the positives by a huge margin. I am very happy with my Verizon service. I get service virtually everywhere I go, even in concrete elevator shafts inside concrete buildings. I also found many reports of the possibility that the iPhone is coming to Verizon (some posts claim to know people that work for Verizon and that claim the iPhone IS coming.) Therefore, I've decided to stay with Verizon, pay month to month with no contract, and then when/if the iPhone is released for Verizon, jump all over it. For now I'm happy with my super simple LG 5300. It makes and takes calls and little else.
One of the many Verizon rumor reports:
Apple Could Partner With Verizon, Rack Up Sales
