Is Wunder Radio really as sweet as it looks? I haven't paid for any apps yet and I don't want to get in the habit of it since there are so many good free ones available, but this one looks like it might be worth the $6.99.

Found one
I finally found one at the best buy in perrysburg Ohio. Not a bad drive for me since I'm in grad school at UT. So far I am VERY impessed but still adjusting to the keyboard. It also connected to my corporate exchange owa server and seemlessly applied almost all of the security settings, along with my calendar and contacts. Color me impressed.

I've been extremely impressed so far as well. It's really fast and intuitive, I feel like I've been using it for years.

This is pretty cool, who doesn't love Bill Nye the Science Guy?
Gizmodo - Bill Nye the Science Guy explains the iPhone's oleophobic screen
Quote:
Exclusive: Bill Nye the Science Guy was gracious enough to elbow Matt out of the way and write a Giz Explains column, in which he tackles the science of "oleophobia," and its relation to the new iPhone screen.
The new 3GS iPhone has a coating that helps you leave no, well hardly any, prints---fingerprints. The glass screen is coated with a polymer, a plastic that human skin oil doesn't adhere to very well. People in the chemical bonding business like to call the finished surface "oleophobic."
Such a lovely Greek cognate may sound like it means "afraid of oil." And, it does, but it also connotes (or carries with) "aversion" or "not-like-to-be-around-tivity," if I may. Instead of sticking to the bonded-plastic surface of your new phone, the oil from you fingers or cheekbone or tip of your nose stays more or less together as its own smooshed droplet.

Bump. Can anybody give some more insight? I really like the idea here, I just want some more details. A lot of the reviews say that you can only listen for a couple minutes at a time and it constantly buffers. Any truth to this? Is it worth the $6.99?

I really like wunderradio. Since the 3.0 software I can literally stream from my desk downtown Chicago, on the train out to my suburb and all the way home and only rebuffer maybe 2 times top. The nice thing about wundderradio is the radiotime integration, so it makes it really easy to find syndicated radio shows. Very nicely done!
ps. I also have Tuner, but i use wunderradio more since its so much easier to find the shows i like!

Is anyone else with a 3G model having minor issues with the operating system since upgrading to the new 3.0 software? While there are some things I really like about 3.0 -- landscape keyboard and cut and paste, for instance -- there seems to be more lag time when moving around in applications... there's more a lag in the display when going from portrait to landscape, for instance. Or, when texting, it acts a little goofier, like handling incoming texts when you're already in the application. No real major issues, but the new OS just seems to not function quite as smoothly as the previous one.
Also, I could be wrong, but I thought 3.0 would bring with it some network improvements. So far, though, AT&T still sucks as bad as it always has.

I haven't used it much since the end of bball season, but I had almost no buffering issues. I guess it depends on the 3G signal strength in your area. It's very strong here so I have little issue.

I've not noticed any network related differences, but now that you mention it, have noticed a couple of the little performance hiccups you describe. Nothing major, just a little hesitation now and then. I was just chalking it up to my incessant need to justify new purchases (3Gs).

so I am eligible for an upgrade to 3gs but I dont know if I hould do it.
I'm kind of disappointed with apple and AT&T.
For AT&T ... My service has been terrible for the last few days for some reason when I used to ALWAYS be in 3g. Plus I hear that the turn by turn navigation is going to cost $10 a month? Get ****ed AT&T.
For apple: as someone else noted... 3.0 seems choppy. And more importantly, copy and paste blows. You can only copy from a text or website. It won't let me copy the URL from Photobucket, it won't let me copy a phone number from my recent calls.... What the hell are you guys copying and pasting because the few things that it does work on i dont really need.
Plus this damn autocorrect has gone ******ed it seems like. Changes few to dew, don't to font, yo to to. Maybe this one isn't as big of an issue but it doesn't seem to be figuring out what I'm typing anymore.

I used the Tuner App for football but couldnt get it to work for bball. Does wunderradio work for both? One thing I hate about Tuner is that I cannot figure out how to get more stations on it.

After a week of waiting, mine finally came in to the ATT store today. It is syncing contacts and music as I type. So far I am extremely happy. I'll start by saying I never had any MAJOR issues with Verizon. Service was good, cust svc was ok, but spotty. The 3GS gets 2 bars better in my home office than my samsung did. They ported my out of state number over - which verizon wouldnt do for me when I left nextel for them like 7 years ago.
But the phone itself is awesome. I have tinkered with most verizon phones over the years and this takes the cake by a mile. The BB storm is the only thing that has come close for me.
I know ATT's customer service is atrocious, but I have them for internet, home phone, and satellite already, so I know what to expect.

For me, the 3.0 software on the 3G is leaps and bounds better than it was, but I don't know if I chalk that up to the software, or AT&T rolling out better service in chicago.
but its like a whole new phone for me!

PS- I went to settings and turned on the ask to delete also.

As with most machines, performance is only as good as the operator.

Just wanted to point out that this thread has 41,636 page views, which means that apparently the iPhone is more important than fine trim, that French TV anchor, and sports.

Also, 3.0 seems to have more trouble picking up wireless than the previous software did. In my house, for instance, places where I used to get wireless without a problem are not being picked up as quickly/easily (if at all) as before.

Going from a the original iphone to the 3GS has been an improvement, considering my 2G would only work if it was plugged in, and the touchscreen was messed up

I only used it for bball, but I can't imagine it wouldn't do both. There are a ton of different stations you can tune in.

More missing calendar appointments syncing with MS Exchange over the air. I noticed it this morning. Appointment appears in Outlook, but not on my phone. Also noticed that one of the other attendees (our CIO) is one of the only two others that are trying this iPhone. Appointment does not appear on his either. Appears fine on Blackberries and WinMo devices.
On the phone with Apple now.
For those of you that think Apple is a true business tool ...
Apple guy, "so you are syncing with Mobile Me, right".
Me, "No, Exchange ActiveSync"
Apple guy, "Hmmmmm ... not sure what that is. Let me see if I can find someone that does"
