Let me first state that I don't really care about the whole apple vs. PC (or in this case RIM/Palm/HTC) argument that this post may turn into, but what were the Apple marketing folks thinking about with these new iPhone 3Gs commercials? I mean every single one of them just outlines functions that are new to the iPhone but standard to so many other phones. Video? Cut and paste? Voice activated dialing? I mean come on. If people actually buy an iPhone because of those functions, then they are morans. There have to be other functions that are more unique to the iPhone 3Gs that could have been used in the commercials right

Washington D. C. - The U.S. Justice Department has begun looking at big telecom companies

to try to determine if they have abused their market power when signing exclusivity agreements with handset makers, such as AT&T’s (NYSE: T) deal with Apple (NASD: AAPL) and the iPhone, according to Wall Street Journal (WSJ).

Without understanding the potential of it, many people thought it was useless to add a compass to the iPhone. In fact, you can see that it may turn out to be one of the most important additions to the iPhone. I think they're only scratching the surface with augmented reality.

Attention golfers: Check out Golfshot at the app store or Golfshot.com. I have used it twice now and cannot say anything but good things about this gps and scorecard app. I trialed ViewTi and this one is in a different league. Best $30 I have spent in quite a while.

How is it different/better than ViewTI?

I have ViewTI right now, and GS GPS does look pretty sweet. I wonder if it has as many courses already programmed into the app like ViewTI does?

This gives you a nice dynamic yardage book. The aerials are available too, but if you know the course it is nice to quickly see the markers/layups/carry distances. I also like to quickly see the front/back of the green distances.

You can download Bethpage Black for free and you can get a sense of the capabilities. I only tested ViewTi with their first hole offering. I liked it, but I think this one has some slicker features includig a great scorecard / statistics tracker which is impressive.

They have a list on the website. All the courses I play here in Oregon are listed.

Battery life is ok if you turn off wifi and bluetooth. On Saturday I golfed 18 at Angels Crossing and got the "20% battery life remaining" message at hole 16. I bought a portable battery pack for $20 and I plugged in but I probably could have finished the round. It was about a 4.5 hour round.

Also, there were four courses that were not mapped when I bought the app. I was able to send photos of the scorecards and they emailed me within 24 hours for each that they were done. I played a course I requested and one previously done and both gave great distances.

There was a time knowing the direction to stagger to Farringdon to catch the Thameslink home would have been very useful for me

Ever since the 3.0 software came out, my voicemail sucks.

When someone calls and leaves me a message, it wont show up until the next time i make a call on the phone.

Very ****ed up.

I've experinced that. Remove and replace the SIm card. Should clear that up. It resets the AT&T network settings.

Monoprice has a $14 battery pack, as well as a $25 or so one that has a lot more power. I think I'm going to get Golfshot this weekend and test it out on The Bear.
