Good list. Scott Linebrink will be available, he's a FA at the end of the year and wants out of SD because he wants to close. Colorado would probably deal Fuentes, but I would guess the price would be pretty high. Cleveland has a ton of arms in their 'pen, but I doubt they'd trade 'em to Detroit. Florida might be willing to part with Kevin Gregg now that they have Benitez. I think houston will eventually trade one of Lidge and Wheeler, but Qualls isn't too terrible, either. If Atlanta falls out of it, they might deal Wickman, since they have Soriano ready to take over. David Weathers might also be available if Guardado makes it back.. .but I don't see how he'd be an upgrade over Jones.

I like Clevlen a_lot, I would rather trade Monroe or Thames. You can trade Thames and Monroe could easily put in spot duty at 1st, he has that ability. Sheff at 1st or Infante in an emergency role. That clears room for Clevlen.
No, I am not high, drunk or stupid. It is just a thought I have had for a while. Thought I would throw it out there.

We really don't know if Monroe has any infielding ability since he's never done it. His entire career has been played in the outfield...and I like Clevlen, but I'm not sold on him enough to think that he'd be any better than Monroe, Sheff or Thames in the outfield.

Monroe, Maroth, Miner for Gagne (or Isnringhausen or Reyes)
or Thames, Maroth, Miner.
Starters:
Verlander
Rogers
Bonderman
Miller
Durbin/Robertson
You have the Durbin/Robertson loser (short-straw) into the long relief role with Seay and Grilli
Something like that. Im sure this is going to be corrected by someone, but it is not completely impossible.

I think that Clevlen is an = to what we get out of Monroe/Thames, and he would be around longer, at a lower cost (crap, I just played small ball )
Monroe is a good enough athlete that he can learn 1st in a hurry. It is not like trying to make a SS out of him. His reaction time has to be shorter than in the OF of course, but that is about all he would have to get used to.

Would Clevelan get us one of these guys strait up? Would we have to add Maroth or someone else?

would have to add someone, no doubt. The team with the closer holds the hot hand.

if they would take jones you have to add him. I would think that clevlen, Jones and the paperboy would get some INTEREST. Not sure how far it gets though.
Jones still has a_lot of good pitching in him. I just dont know if it is still possible to get it OUT of him.

Considering you must've entertained this notion yourself to post a thread about it, I'm glad you aren't the Tigers' GM.

NO WAY would I trade for a position player right now. Closer is the only spot on the entire club that I would trade for. I think our pitching is about to heal itself up in every other spot. And if we find a slumpbuster for Jonesy, we may be able to cure the closer position without a trade!!!
anyone have a worthy sister to send over to Jonesy tonight? He is not pitching, so he has plenty of time in the clubhouse by himself!!!

People here WAY overvalue the price of prospects.(kind of like incoming freshman - hope always exceeds realism). I'm not saying that I would make the trade, but I'd seriously consider trading Miller or Maybin for Tex and Gagne. You have to make a serious commitment to pay Tex some dough though.
