Off-topic Watching TV can cost you over $1M in your lifetime

I thought these were some interesting articles I read tonight. I agree, I don't think I could give up TV, but if Americans average 31.5 hours per week, what could be done with only watching 15-20.

For 1/10th of that I'll help anyone give up the RCMB. In reality even after my payment, I'd be making you guys around $900k or even more considering many of your careers would take off without this distraction!

31.5 hours? Hell, I spend less than 3 hours a week watching TV.

I do, however, spend 45-50 hours on tRCMB.

There are too many quality programs out there to give up TV or limit yourself to under 10 hours/week. Also, everything in the news is TV-based, so if you want to find out things as they happen, you need television.

what do you mean by that? I read CNN or msn.com every day, I don't feel like I'm missing any major news stories.

I mean the coverage of news stories is faster on TV than online. If something BIG happens in the world, odds are that it will be covered on TV faster than online.

tv is 1 million dollars well spent. it is better than spending the money on drugs and strippers.

so...if I'm home when something big happens, I'll tune into to the TV.

Most of the TV I watch regularly IS the news, so I'm not knocking it, but really CNN.com will be udpated within 5 minutes of any major occurence and I'm fine with that. September 11th is the only time in my life I ever rushed to a TV to find out what was happening. I'd hazard to guess that the people pulling up that sad 31.5 hour/week average are NOT primarily watching the news

Okay, besides the big shows that you watch every week and maybe a Spartan football or bball game, would it really be hard to watch less than 15 hours per week of TV?

I guess you do have to figure in here how many hours people spend on the RCMB, or spend on the Internet while watching TV. I figure I probably watch 15 hrs per week of TV, but spend 15 hrs per week online at home.

That's why God invented the DVR & DVDs. I went all of last year w/o cable, and would be doing the same right now if my apt building didn't pay for it.

hmm, I don't watch tv (besides football and basketball) but I am broke and drunk. I think I would be even less of a loser if I sat around watching Meet The Stars and all that crap.

I'm making $30 this week by watching TV.

God bless Nielsen...

Of course, i've realized that i watch a crap load of TV...of course, that'll change once i'm working since about 80% of the tv i watch is during the day.

In reality, what can people really do one or two hours a day from not watching TV to make money besides starting your own business? The only thing I can think of is taking classes/certifications/study.

I'm going to try to put that extra time I plan to save on getting in better shape.
