MSU Red Cedar Message BoardMichigan State sports and other general MSU topics. The RCMB has been the No. 1 MSU fan site since it launched in 1995. It is the largest and most active MSU Spartans board on the web. "Please post as if your family were on the other computer."
Wow, I actually went to the website and am a little confused. Should I be upset that I could miss games, or should I not care because none of the games on it will be worth a damn?
I like how the website is all over the place and called "putting fans first"
If they were putting the "fans" first, they wouldn't give a crap about making everyone pay the 1.10 (not that its even about the fee, but placement)
They want to put the fans "first" by making them pay for a digital tier/pack upgrade. Last time I checked 5 bucks was more than 1 dollar.
Also, how the hell do sports fans lose when now the conference's fans across the entire country can watch pretty much every game the 11 teams play? Before this they either had to pay a couple hundo for Gameplan and Full Court.
Now? The cost the Big Ten wants is 13.20 a year? Comcast wants us to pay 60 bucks minimum for it and a bunch of crappy channels. Who is really putting the "fans" first?
I understand the issue about making EVERYONE pay for it, but the fact they're trying to tell sports fans this isn't an upgrade is funny to me.
Since Comcast moved the NFL network which costs $.80 from my basic tier up to the sportspack, I am wondering how long before they reduce my bill. Oh, thats right they increased my bill by $2.00 while reducing my channels, and gave me a $5 option to get the NFL network back. Fans first indeed.

Now THAT'S effective PR messaging.

If nothing else, this shows how much Comcast thinks they can gouge their customers for the BTN if they are willing to put out marketing budget money on crap like this.

I worked with Dave Waymire before and he's a total d-bag. He's so stupid I'm not surprised he would pull something so smarmy.
I worked with him, too. Maybe we knew each other? Check your PMs.
Waymire was always arrogant and abrasive, and liked to piss people off, so this doesn't surprise me either. His type of mudslinging is effective in the political arena, where people respond to negative campaigning no matter how much they say they don't like it (whether it's political campaigns or legislative issues), but as evidenced by this thread, people don't respond the same way to bickering between companies. He's been around politics and lobbying too long, and this makes it look like he's really out of his element.

Please accept my apologies for the post by one of my company’s employees regarding the Big 10 Network’s insistence that the new channel be forced on all cable customers, not just those interested in sports. You were right to “out” that posting, as it did not clearly point out our company does work for Comcast (which did not pre-approve the message posted).
Our staffer is indeed a MSU student, and did attend Commissioner Delaney’s kickoff in East Lansing. And he is a big Spartan fan. Given a chance to buy the network as part of a sports tier, he probably would!
That doesn’t excuse our failure to identify that the posting was done by our company advocating for a particular position.
Again, my apologies. Go Spartans…at least until they play my Northwestern Wildcats!

Unsurprisingly, and since this almost exact wording showed up on several different websites, people eventually figured out the posts were coming from the IP address of Martin Waymire Advocacy Communications, which probably was just doing it out of the goodness of its heart and not because Comcast paid them or anything.
I would, however, not recommend hiring Martin Waymore Advocacy Communications. Hell, I'd do a better job for half the cost.

So what is the excuse for the almost identical posts on the other message boards? Let me guess, you have multiple staffers from each of the Big 11 and each staffer decided on their own to post the same thing on their home message boards?
Nice try at the spin David, about as good as the original work you threw up here...
I resent that comment. I represent the pharmaceutical industry in my advertising position, and I can tell you that it's legitimacy all the way in this line of work.
