You would think. Especially if he starts losing scholarships due to poor graduation rates.

This could seriously come into play for them in the next five years.

Is it just me, or does giving high school freshmen scholarship offers just plain wrong on a variety of levels? What advantage does this provide the kid, who's ego will obviously inflate and desire to improve be reduced since he already has a "big time offer". The colleges are in a no-lose situation since they can pull the scholly (since nothing was signed) if the kid doesn't perform to expectations during his SO, JR, or SR year...
Since the competition of recruiting is causing some schools to go after younger and younger kids...I wouldn't doubt to see the NCAA get involved in the coming years outlawing scholarship offers to anyone younger than Juniors in high school...

This is unreal. I can't believe this. I know a lot of people are going to call him out for illegal actions in recruiting, but I'm going to give him his due justice and say he's innocent until proven guilty. I am just in shock at how he's doing this though.

That has never been true, and still is not true.
Assuming no one leaves early or penalties for OSU, after the Goldon commit, they still have 1 scholly for 2008 or 2009, and the 2010 class is full.
Last year OSU only had 9 players on scholarship. This year, 11. You are allowed 13.
From now on if OSU gets a 2010 recruit, or 2 combined for 2008/2009 you can make that statement.

Explain this to me.
2010 kids are Sophmores THIS year. And bball season hasn't started yet. So bascially these kids have played 1 year vs high school competition. (or no years because some high schools start in 10th grade).
How in the HELL do you determine a 9th grader to be worthy of playing on your college team 3 years from now. Sounds like the dumbest thing ever.

Then Izzo is dirty as hell too. Before 2000 OSU would actually be considered a better program, and still has more B10 championships.
Not one allegation his way, no matter where he went. OSU and Matta had inroads into every one of their recruits. Name them, and I will tell you.
They fired a coach over money, and it cost them $2.5 million.
Who is the moron?

Flashback before the tourney. Before all the departures, this was their situation:
2007-2008
Butler
Terwilliger
Madsen
Oden
Cook
Conley
Lighty
Hunter
Diebler
Koufos
Lauderdale
Turner
Wallace
13
With 2008 scholarship offers accepted by:
Buford
Crater
Mullens
Offutt
That would give you a 2008-2009 lineup of
Madsen
Oden
Cook
Conley
Lighty
Koufos
Lauderdale
Diebler
Turner
Wallace
Buford
Crater
Mullens
Offutt
14
Guess they are lucky people went pro. You can do the math for the 09 kids too that "accepted" before those schollies were freed.

you are the moron because izzo is clean as they come. I know for a fact that Izzo is clean as I used to work with him. I also know for a fact that Matta is dirty as I have heard stories from other div 1 coaches who tell of matta and his dirty recruiting. State has always been a better basketball program. You comin on here like you know **** when you don't state has more tourney (23-20) appearances. MSU has 2 national championships, osu has 1. You have Jerry Lucas, we have the 2nd best player ever Magic. I can go on and on. Izzo is a better, classier, and cleaner coach than Matta. Matta is full of lies and false promises. They only fired a coach over money because it became public and they HAD to do it.

when OSU becomes a better program than MSU let me know...I know I'll be waiting a LONG time for that because it will not be happening in the next 10 years.
Most dominate program in the last 10 years= MSU

Who has more wins vs. the other, Matta or Izzo?
Who won more B10 titles since Matta started?
Who has been to a Championship game since Matta started?
Since Matta started at OSU, OSU is actually better.
If you want to go overall, if OSU wins a NC then a very strong case can be made OSU, historically, is better than MSU.

WHOAAAAA, a whole 3 more appearances, and I did say before 2000. Please refute it.
Please inform the NCAA what you know. Let me guess, you got nothing.

Is there a limit to how early a school can offer a player a scholarship? I thought there were rules about when they could start contacting recruits.

You're not supposed to be able to contact them their freshman year.
There are even limits as to how they can be contacted until their junior year.
