Of course something that throws off this theory is if DHARMA knew where to airdrop the food, why did they need to send out a freighter to find the Island?
The magnetic field generated by the Hatch prevented anything from landing on the island. Once that blew the **** up, DHARMA knew some **** went down.

How much time elapsed between the hatch blowing and Naomi reaching the island?

But they would have always known where the island was - hence the drops. I think the magenetic field clued them into something being wrong - plus we know Ben was jamming transmissions.

A couple of days - maybe a week. It's hard to fathom that they have only been there 90 days!

The more I think about it, Dharma knew something was up on the island. They likely had contact with the island and when everything went silent due to Ben blocking, they knew something was up. Maybe they kept the food drops going to keep the illusion they didn't know?

I think the hatch blowing is what made it possible for them to actually get on the island. This means Locke is the one responsible for whatever goes down when they get there. Maybe this is part of the reason why Hurley told Jack he was sorry for siding with Locke?

Not 100% sure, but I would guess it's because ABC doesn't have any more new episodes of Grey's Anatomy left and Thursday is the most profitable night of the week for the networks.

Another thing to think about: The SAG contracts expire in June. There is a possibility that the writers strike could drag on until June or longer. If the actors strike while the writers are still out on strike, can you image what that is going to do to the entertainment industry? We might not even get a season of Lost in 2009.
I don't know why the the network wouldn't. This is a hit series, and there would be no reason not to extend it.

I couldn't find the exact article I saw, but in this one, an interview with one of the Ex. Producers, they hint that they are going to do a total of 48, even if one season needs to be 24.

For the having the biggest TV event of the month take place last night ABC seemed to devote most of their ad spots to promoting Eli Stone. Wouldn't you rather sell those spots to Proctor and Gamble et al.

I'll be curious to see what the ratings for that show were, because the more ads I saw the less interested I became in the show. It looks absolutely horrendous.

I had it on in the background while doing some work last night. It seemed like a drama-dy version of My Name Is Earl. With a lawyer instead of a white trash dude.

The promos didn't look very good, but it was actually pretty funny. I was surprised.

Locke let the hatch blow on Day 67. Naomi landed on Day 87.

Well that's good, and I agree I don't see why ABC wouldn't. I don't think anyone knows exactly what is going to happen until the writer's strike ends. And there is a possibility that the strike could drag on for months still and the SAG could go on strike in June. There is a possibility that the 2008-2009 season of Lost gets delayed or never happens.

Just a few thoughts.

- I think the Oceanic 6 had the opportunity to get off the island and took it, leaving others behind. Maybe from the freighter, maybe not. We don't know how much time passed until the flash forward with Hurley. If they left and haven't told anyone that there are other survivors, they look like major schmucks.

- Having said that above, perhaps one of them did tell, and the whole world knew that they had left other survivors there. The Oceanic 6 celebrity status, then turns almost to villain status, which could have led to Jack's mental downfall. After a while that anger may have turned to indifference. That could certainly explain the lack of any fuss at the funeral if it was one of the 6 there. While Jack was recognized as a survivor, was he remembered in a positive or negative light? Or perhaps neutral? While he was recognized, I don't remember him being treated as "autograph worthy". Could be that they were the flavor of the month and no one cared anymore, or it could be that something happened to negate that hero/celebrity status.

- I don't think Ben's fear is as simple as Dharma coming to get him. If that's the case, why is Locke on the same page? Why the use of Penny's name to find Desmond to find Dharma? If we believe that Locke is in tune with the island, then the island doesn't want them to be rescued.

- Ben says that if the rescuers come then everyone that they find will die. Does he say that they will die immediately? If in last season's flash forward, Jack and Kate were the last after someone had died, maybe anyone who gets rescued dies within a few years. I'd have to go back and see how the dialog is done when there is talk of the "danger" of the rescue.
