LSU might throw a Nick Saban deal at him

Why the hell would he leave what he has @ LSU? My buddy says he has a "UM only" opt out clause in his contract... I still don't think he is going to go...

I dont see it happening. Even with his ties to SCum, why would you leave a team that is positioned to play for a national championship, a full cupboard of top notch recruits and his system already in place?

I think that is ultimately going to be the deciding factor in him not leaving LSU.
Plus Les does not seem to be a guy that has a big head, and seems to be content with what he has!

Yes. I think if he's offered the job he takes it.

One thing to consider is that LSU has a stipulation in his contract that lists Michigan as the only school that he can't leave for without a buyout. Miles would have to pay LSU $1.25 million to leave.

Maybe because coaching for your Alma Mater and living close to family and friends are equally important?

Whether he does or not, I hope it becomes a circus.
I'm not especially afraid of Les Miles. Seems like a good coach. He was usually around 8-4 at Okie State when he had to compete for recruits.

scUM would likely just buy out his contract for him. 1.25m signing bonus.

And risk pissing off Beeline, who had to pay his own buyout?

This whole deal is interesting. Why is Floyd making the announcement on Monday? If he is going to retire, then the AD must have already "talked" to some potential replacements. They must have a short list. As much as i dislike um, they are not going to embarass themselves in this hiring process. You wont see them hire a guy and the announcement be made at half time of his teams bowl game. I guess Floyds retiring now means his team will play well in their bowl game to send him out a winner. There are two guys who i dont want to see take over, Miles or Tedford. Anyone on their staff that they promote will set their program back, and that is good for us.

If Carr does what everyone is speculating; (i.e. retire now or directly after their bowl game), then he is putting scUM in the worst scenario for getting Miles. Apparantly there is bad blood between Carr and Miles. This move almost looks deliberate making it difficult to get Miles. If Miles jumps, he leaves LSU high and dry; Saban style. Not a good move. If he holds out, bad for recruiting and really screws both schools. LSU seems like the perfect place for a coach to win, look good and make lots of money. If Miles does jump, I guess he certainly makes a statement about his desire.

Be happy, without Flloyd scUM will go down.

meeeechigan can "justify" not renovating their stadium to suit handicapped but can also "justify" paying out millions to buy out a contract.
I hope that they do go after a coach like Miles. But any team that gets a coach that can be bought will someday see that they can lose a coach that can be bought. But as we all know, the arrogance factor in AA can never see that there is anyplace else that any coach may go or want to. It's their turn to enjoy a Sabanesque coaching tenure.

They didn't win for Bo when he died. They didn't beat OSU in any of Mighty Mouths 4 years and they still haven't won a bowl game for him. Why would they give a **** now?

The media pressure is going to get intense very quickly and Miles is going to have to take a position quickly or risk losing his LSU team.... Supposedly he strictly adheres to the truth so this could get interesting...let's see if he is a hypocrite

doesn't Flloyd have a small contract? I thought it was just over $1M, that won't be enough to get Les Miles or Tedford........UM has been known for their small contracts, they think coaches will want to be there for less $$ just because its UM........they may have a very difficult time if they expect to get someone on the cheap...Miles included.

There isn't enough money in aa to get an $EC coach whose won a National Championship his current job.
With the current NCAA investigation going, they may just have to ride the rr train until its concluded. I can say there was no one involved with the hiring of rr who expected less than 6 conference wins in his first 2 years.

I don't think Miles goes anywhere near that trainwreck. The "House that Bo built", burned down when they hired RR. If he didn't take it before coming off an 9 win season, why now??

It doesn't make sense for LSU to allow an out for Les MIles with UM in his contract because if you remember when they locked him down for the extension just before the national championship game, MIles was being courted by UM. For LSU to give Miles a huge increase in pay along with an extension and still give him an out for UM seems to be unlikely but I would love to hear corroboration one way or the other.
