It's real, GGG. Very real.
If Ferentz turns them down, though, U-M will deny, deny, deny.

I wonder if Iowa having Russell Ellington & Jason Ford de-commit and commit to Illinois over the weekend is any indication that Kirk Ferentz is on his way to UofM.
Ellington = 2 star OLB
Ford = 3 star RB

With all due respects Bruce, we had a nice season, but I don't think beating MSU at home is really a difference maker on his coaching resume.

Oh, I believe it's real. I was just more at the fact that the "other reports" are the RCMB.

A local news station in Iowa just reported that Ferentz was offered the job, per a friend of mine in Aimes.

mgoblog, while not a traditional news source does not just normally monger rumors. Though on this story (er rumor), the dude in charge cya'ed himself to the nth degree.
One more thing, if Ferentz gets hired, do the weasels save boucoup $$$ by "forcing" ferentz to keep all (or most) of the assistants already under contract?
KF on the cheap + Assistants retained = big money saved for a "cheap" school like weasel U.

Again, I wouldn't be too upset with Ferentz assuming he brings in a good staff and assuming Martin actually, you know..interviewed other candidates.
If this is true...disgusting.

Are you honestly dissapointed with Ferenz as a coaching prospect? Is he too much of a straight shooter for you or are you still holding out hope that the man who lost on Saturday to AR-Kansas will come riding into AA on a maize colored stallion after losing the SEC Championship game?

I think Ferentz last 3 seasons are reason for concern, and he's a bit too much like Lloyd for my tastes.
That said, I think he would do a solid job- but I think it would be awful if Martin didn't even try to interview other candidates.

Well, I don't think there's any way um can pull this off if iowa was 5-7 this year, so every win mattered to some extent. But I also think MD has them a little worried down there. If it does go down, I'd say that their prez's relationship with ferentz is the major factor.
If ferentz comes in, I bet the um staff stays largely the same. I can't see Norm Parker going there.

I just think it's , personally, that people are pining over Miles and about Ferentz.
No offense, Big M.

I'm not so sure, I think the experience he gained winning the national championship with Tressel, then being the HC at Cincinatti was VERY important.

Second, Ferentz is unhappy at Iowa. This has been a disasterous season on and off the field, his ridiculously high salary (that Iowa offered him, not the other way around) is a curse, and fans were booing their seniors on Senior Day (something that didn't sit well with him at all and could be the straw that breaks the camel's back).
|
So why is Ferentz unhappy, because he recruited a gang of thugs, or because he took all the money?
Also, how does ditching Iowa to go to work for the AA's resolve any of Ferentz's issues? All I'd see in that situation was a coach who made somewhat of a mess at Iowa, running off and hiding at um.
