Unless you have an employment contract, most employers would fire your ass if they knew you were talking to the competition about a new gig. Maybe some cant admit it, but the UM job is a top 5 job in the country. Probably better for RichRod cuz less competition that the SEC (when he looked at Bama job), a national recruiting base, and very good facilities. Nobody in their right mind leaves a great job until the have the new one signed, sealed, and delivered. And when Terrell Pryor ends up at scUM, it will be at least 3 years of pain for the rest of the Big Ten. Ive seen him live, and he looks alot like Vince Young. Smart move by RichRod to keep that guy in the loop, IMHO.

No, it was a done deal, there was no negotiating on sidelines. Why blame the U & Mason when someone who didn't like the hire was obviously doing whatever they could to torpedo it?
The um job isn't a top 5 job in the country. USC, Texas, UF, FSU, Miami, LSU, OSU, PSU and others are all more attractive if only because they're in prime recruiting territories. In addition they have winning traditions, and are most are in the NC picture when um isn't.

Correct - only people in SE Michigan believe that UM causes jaws jobs to drop everywhere. They are considered a very good team. Period.

I am NOT a lions fan but please, do NOT hate on Barry. Look at the ownership and management structure of that team. He is the greatest player I have ever seen in person. I had season tickets for a couple of years to watch him run.

That's exactly um's problem, every year they're 1 or 2 games away from being in the NC picture. Pretty much every year, they lose their last game to Texas, or USC, or Nebraska, AFTER losing the BT showdown w/OSU.
Every year um gets a great class, often top 5 and if not, then certainly top 10, and pretty much every year they underachieve. When you consider the recruits they get and then consider that all that talent has gotten um exactly .5 NC's since Bo showed up to turn things around in the late '60's, you have to think um has a deep seated problem.
OSU wouldn't/didn't put up with that. Earle Bruce was fired for averaging 9 wins, but couldn't beat um, and the same for Cooper, they got broomed and now OSU has a coach who owns um. OSU is a top 5 job.

What is funny is how michigan fans talk about how close they are to the national title when speaking down to MSU fans...yet these fans have this delusional idea that Lloyd Carr and staff was underachieving. That's just crazy!
RR is a step down from Lloyd Carr...a big step down. That is why MSU fans are giddy over this hire!

Try stepping away from the crack pipe. Like it or not, UM is still a national program. They get kids regularly from all over the country. FSU and Miami are trending downward. PSU is mid range big ten program and has lost its east coast dominance to (gasp) WVa, Rutgers, and BC. Its no wonder MSU fans are considered some of the most ignorant fans around. Embarassing.

It is just as if you guys criticizing Rod were to interview for a new job at Quiznos which is a step up from your sandwich maker position at Subway. If a camera crew followed you to and from the interview and then your manager demanded to know if you wre a dedicated sandiwch artist before your next shift, you would put on that hair net and declare yourself a Subway Man to the masses even though you know you want to be at Quiznos and hope the offer for more hours comes through. Once it does, you leave the green and yellow apron behind for the toasted goodness of you new career.
The media has forced the insincere responses from the coaches which the media then decries as insincere.

I look forward to re-reading your Miles posts detailing how great RR is after you do a find/replace on them. Any other bold predictions?

WTF?
Can the wishful thinking, SCum, Koolaid drinking, Polyanna, Bull $#l+ please be redirected to the Skunk related boards?
For God's sake! They get their 10th choice who is nothing but a turn-coat, coward who bailed on Alabama and now his alma mater.
Great pick, SCum!
Trust us. We are glad here in Spartyville.
Act happy, SCummers. Go on.... Act happy. You have no other choice. You are stuck with what you got. Make the best of it.
