All the welcome week block parties kick ass because the residents get together and organize it so they're all on the same page.

Just a head's up to anyone planning on going to Cedar Fest, I recently spoke with a County Prosecutor of a county close to Ingham County, and he said that a large number of State Police officers in Southeast Michigan have been mobilized because of Cedar Fest and will be ready to respond a the first sign of trouble.

I trust this will end well for everybody and we can count on some nice press coverage.

Who the **** would want to let strangers in their apartments? I'm sure there will be big parties at each apartment, but I just don't see it being very likely that people are going to let just anyone chill at their place with all the electronics people have these days. I would also watch out for plain clothes cops because I bet there is going to be quite a few there. I'm predicting a fun night, but not anything explosive.

This will not end well.

I can't wait to see my alma mater plastered all over the front page of national papers again with cars and couches on fire and drunk idiots climbing trees. I think I can actually hear the sound of the value of my degrees falling at this very moment.

****ing morons.

Wow...think national media thought we were/are morons when MSU students rioted after the final four? Wonder what they'll say when people are burning **** after a tournament that kicked us out early in the second weekend...

I really hope this doesn't get too out of hand...and you guys wonder why MSU doesn't get the respect it deserves as a university.

Btw, before any one calls me a dork or whatever, I'm not saying to not party or drink. I'll be at the bars all night tomorrow...just think about how ****ing stupid you look (and make the entire student body look) when you don't know how to handle alcohol and destroy stuff cause you're a badass like that.

And it begins...

E. Lansing police issue warning to Cedar Fest guests | Freep.com | Detroit Free Press

Quote:
To quell any violence before it starts, the East Lansing Police Department today issued a statement warning students not to get out of hand at Cedar Fest this weekend.

The event, fueled by a posting on Facebook.com, appears to be an attempt to revive a drunken tradition that dates to the 1980s.

"It's really simple, don't go," East Lansing Police Chief Tom Wibert said. "Don't block the streets or sidewalks. Keep moving and avoid large crowds."

Police vowed to issue tickets and make arrests when necessary and warned that landlords will monitor the event, as well.

As of Thursday afternoon, Facebook had 6,477 confirmed guests for the party in the Cedar Village area. Some Cedar Fest events in the past have turned violent. In 1986, for example, revelers caused $24,000 damage at the event attended by 4,000 people.
Something is going to happen and I don't think it's going to be pretty.

Stupid. Let the party go on. Have the police there simply for protection. Don't try to stop it.

Seriously, does the Freep/dnews do ANY original reporting anymore? I swear all they do is hang out here all day and pick out their stories

All volunteer police officers are being mobilized in the area. A family friend is one, and will be in riot gear on Saturday night. The pigs have already started the riot.
