Football Mark Ingram close to decision, most likely not MSU

http://michiganstate.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=769292

"I've made some big changes to my recruitment but I'm not ready to announce them yet. I think people will be surprised. I've also decided to try and change my announcement date to Tuesday at 3:30. I'm going to talk to my athletic director about that but I'm ready to get this behind me," Ingram said. "As things stand now I don't have a decision but I'm going to hopefully by tomorrow. Tonight I'm meeting with my parents and we will discuss everything.

I can't see how picking MSU would be a big change and surprise people at all. I just can't see him picking MSU unless he has a change of heart.

Its going to be 'Bama.

I just read his quotes from his visit last night with Saban (Spartan Mag).

Plus, word around the campfire has been he's heading there -- and wasn't an MSU "lean" or "lock", not ever.

Still hoping he goes with his heart. He'd be a hero at State.

His dad was one of the toughest WR ever as a Spartan, Mark Jr most likely would be one of the toughest RBs.

Who knows maybe his son could be a future star at State as well!

This has been my feeling since he took the visit there. Tough break for MSU but we'll survive. Maybe it will help with someone like Caper for 09.

I have no earthly clue....

and i don't think anyone really knows what an 18 yr. old kid is thinking....but I agree that if he actually said that.......not good for us. Iowa.......very possible I suppose. His Dad has connections with Norm Parker at Iowa...........man we need this kid, he would just rack up the yards in our offense.

Like I posted above, from I've heard - his heart has NEVER been with MSU. People assumed it was.

Not that he had anything against MSU - perhaps he did, I have no idea - but MSU was never the "lock" people think.

My information is from a fairly loose source (and I am not a well connected person with this sort of stuff) - so take it FWIW.

Caper is now a HUGE, and I mean HUGE, recruit next season. We need that young man to come to EL.

I know we'd like to have him, but he would be a luxury for us.

I don't know what MSU has for RB depth after Ringer.

I thought all along he would choose either MSU or Iowa. Iowa would seem an obvious choice because they are in dire need of RBs.

is it normal for a team to take two or more RB recruits in a single class? (excluding top programs like USC that can get anybody they want and have an arsenal of rbs)

Absolutely. We took Ringer and Jimmerson in the same class. Both fairly high ranked.

Yep, AJ redshirted and good thing to, because he'll be the only senior RB after Ringer leaves.

We need one of the backups to make big strides this year and become a viable threat for 2009

One thing I find odd is that he wants to announce on Tuesday. I remember that he was gonna do it on Wednesday with all his teammates that are announcing as well, but now he wants to change it and have a day all to himself. Kinda interesting, IMO.

Bama'

that's just brutal on so many levels.......we'll see I guess. As for Iowa not having any RB's......true but that doesn't apparently mean everything to him or lots of other recruits. For example, lots of good RB's have gone to scUM over the years with 4or 5 guys ahead of them. If your a competitior and think your the best: as most 18 yr. olds do, it doesn't really matter that much. This is disturbing because I'm just not a Jimmerson fan: hope he proves me wrong, but he hasn't shown much.

Now they go for Harper

he's going to be a good D1 running back. Ingram really worked Coach D. He really worked the Izzone pretty well too.

Hey, they do love the attention eh Pipers? One of these years we've GOT to keep the in state kids like Perry-who I think goes to USC and Ingram at home. It can be done with lots of Ohio recruits, but good lord to not get guys like these two..............................

Who knows, maybe back then Ingram was all set for MSU but then recently started to think about things and look at the big picture and changed his mind.

Isaac Harper doesn't look to be a bad plan b.
