MSU needs to hit their shots, right? Well, they must fight thru hand checks and good luck getting a rebound when you are mugged.
Look folks, its simple - blaming the officials is the lowest response to a loss, I understand. However, given the amount of college basketball games I watch - I never, EVER see one sided games like tonight and Iowa.
|
CBS has the stats as 51 attempts for PSU and 21 for MSU. You cannot tell me that ONLY MSU PLAYED physically. There were ticky tack calls made, and absolute clubbings on MSU not called. Horrible officieating tonight. There were 2-3 turnovers out of bounds tonight that OBVIOUSLY went of PSU players...PSU ball.
But, PSU hit nine 3's.

Over on SM someone stated that PSU attempted their last FG attempt with 6:37 left to go in the game. if true. We deserved to lose to Iowa but this was just down rite rape IMHO.

51 free throw attempts for Penn State
Even at scUM in '06 the Wolvies only had 34 attempts.
Granted, a few were end-of-game attempts, but that's just disgusting.
Can we get Bo Ryan to teach these kids how not to foul?

Dear god. If that's true, that's absolutely amazing.
How do you think SC and College Gamenight tell the story of the game? I bet they talk about the upset, run down MSU, and praise the Lions for a while. If free throw attempts are mentioned, how much do you want to bet they're mentioned only in passing?

I am so sick of this. I watch other teams play, and I never see the one-sidedness that seems to happen to MSU on a regular basis. I try my hardest to not be biased, and I can admit when a call is good, but what I saw tonight could in no way be considered a fair game.
You can't make an argument that this game was called fairly, you just can't. It was an absolute screwjob. Yeah our team didn't play well...it's pretty hard to play well when every time you touch a guy it's a foul. THEY DIDN'T LET US PLAY DEFENSE!!!!
That was absolutely the most one-sided game I've ever seen, and I've seen a few. It is clear from watching Big 10 refs in general that they are an absolute joke compared to other conferences.

we palyed terrible dfense. that is why we lost. yoy can't let the refs dictate the game. they made shots, we didn't. they played decent defense, we didn't. penn state deserved to win. they wanted it more. state needs a true leader. izzo can only do so much.

EXACTLY.
I REALLY try not to be biased, but SERIOUSLY?! We have been ****ed TWICE this season (however, Iowa we didnt deserve to win). Where is this BS refing for Wisc.,Purdue and Indiana???!! If either of them had a game as bad as ours tonight it would be "easier" to take, but right now the refs are takin away the B10 championship from us.

The stats/quick facts from this game are mind-boggling. Absolutely surreal.

Seriously, why does the Big Ten seem to hate us? We represent it better than anybody else come Tournament time.
I know I'm not just crazy, because I used to think MSU never got calls in football, but I noticed that the Big Ten refs were WAY better this past year, and have in fact improved by a surprising margin. So I am able to see that MSU got fair treatment in football (except that Bowling Green game, holy crap). I think the Big Ten saw their football officials were doing poorly and corrected the problem, but I am convinced Big Ten basketball refs still SUCK ASS. I know decent officiating when I see it, and Big Ten basketball does not have decent officiating. It has easily the worst officiating of any major conference by a mile.

Relax jbails, look at this board right now man, you aren't the lone frickin' ranger. This all started in the 90's IMO when Izzo and MSU started mauling people with the Flintstones. Bigger, tougher, faster, stronger. Period. Teams like Wisconsin, I-U and OSU have kept up. Most of the rest have taken the fetal position and the only way to keep N-U,Iowa, PSU, UM, etc....competitive is to resort to this dog and pony show. Plus: and correct me if I'm wrong here anyone, most officiating crews in the Big Ten straight up can't stand Izzo. Hard for all us lovers of his to believe, but they HATE HIS GUTS. They feel he shows them up, berates them and they flat don't like him. Not paranoid, not an excuse, just a fact of life. I've chosen over the last five years to concentrate on the tourney in March. We aren't winning the league title this season : again. No one will care if we make a deep run in March, and that;s the ****ing beauty of it.

Absolutely great read smosuup: do everyone a favor and post it to the board with it's own thread, because it certainly deserves it.

Hey izzone, the last thing I'm doing is defending Bo scumbag Ryan. But the zebras will get sick of him eventually too. Seriously, this whole thing reminds me of when Knight went to war with some of these clowns. Valentine and him almost had fist fights at mid court. Bottom line: its human nature that refs wear on coaches and vice versa. They should be ROTATED in and out between conferences to make sure there aren't petty vendettas, personality conflicts and/or blatant screw jobs. That certainly appears to be what's going on now.
