I also heard that crowd sounds for a movie -- maybe Spartacus, that'd make sense -- were taped in Spartan Stadium. As the story goes at halfime they had the crowd roar in certain ways to fit the script.

You are correct sir:
Spartacus (1960) - Trivia
The sound of the crowd cheering "Spartacus! Spartacus!" was actually recorded at a football game in Spartan Stadium, home of the Michigan State University Spartans in East Lansing, Michigan.

Is that why he played SCu-m in "The Program"? Because he wanted to kick their ass on film?

The opening scene has Delores Hart having a sneeze-fest in a blizzard outside Berkey Hall. That is the trigger for their idea to go to FLA on spring break.

Jon-Erik Hexum, who was on one of Daryl Rogers' teams, accidentially killed himself on the set of his TV show Cover Up (w/ Jennifer O'Neil) by (as a tragic joke between takes) shooting a blank with the pistol barrel against his temple.

I hear that there are quite a few MSU alums that work in Hollywood. Greg Harrison directed the movie Groove, and Steve Van Wormer was in the movie Meet the Deedles. They both graduated in the early 1990s.

He went here for a year or two before heading to Hollywood. He was the homecoming grand marshal several years ago.

Hell, they even included a MSU shirt in "Evil Dead: The Musical"
Looks kinda like a f'ed up shirt though. Looks like it was originally a SCu-m shirt and they just wrote STATE under it.

Umm, did you finish that movie??/
They lose to Michigan.
Oddly enough, that is kinda where the wheels fall off on the season.
But they right the ship toward the end to win the conference.

Yeah, I did. Didn't they lose on the last play of the game? It was Heisman vs. Heisman.

In Zoolander, when Derek comes into the bar after wiping the coal off his face, his father and brother are watching an MSU-PSu football game. Derek asks, "Who's winning the match?"
His father replies, "State."

I can't recall him ever wearing a MSU sweatshirt, but I am sure he probably did. I didn't watch the show that often, so I missed a TON of episodes.

Kid threw a pick at the end on the last drive.
The Michigan QB looked like a total Doooche too. It was pretty realistic from that standpoint.
