Not according to Wikipedia.
Reads that he attended but transferred to Hofstra.

There was a mistake in the movie Indian Summer. The head of the camp had his boxing trophy stolen. He was the boxing champion of Michigan State University in the early 40's. MSU was MSC at that time.

In 'Trouble Along the Way' (1953) John Wayne plays a football coach. One of his lines is something like "I've just got to find a way to beat Michigan State next year."

I'll echo that I have never seen Tim Allen wear a State shirt on Home Improvement, and I've seen pretty much every school, including Michigan.

I also heard that crowd sounds for a movie -- maybe Spartacus, that'd make sense -- were taped in Spartan Stadium. As the story goes at halfime they had the crowd roar in certain ways to fit the script.

Yes, it's explicitly stated.
The writer of the novel "Where The Boys Are" was the well known writer Glendon Swarthout, was a faculty member at MSU.
And no, MSU got big in the years immediately following WWII. By 1960, MSU had been in the Big Ten for years and was big.
I believe that Swarthout also wrote "The Shootist," by the way.
And yeah, at halftime of an MSU-ND game they led the crowd in the cheers they wanted for Spartacus.

I also don't remember Tim Allen ever wearing an MSU shirt in Home Improvement. It seemed like it was always WMU, Calvin, Alma College, or something.
BUT, I do remember he had an old red, white & blue MI license plate hanging in his garage above the hotrod that read " MSU-###".

I'm not a right-winger, but I don't like Michael Moore because he is a chronic liar.

And an obese slob who leverages himself with unionista grudges. I'm no fan of GM management, but I wish he would lose the "S" cap and.... if he's so concerned about Flint, get his fat ass down from his Northern Michigan retreat and become a "community organizer"
