Wow, passionate response or schtick? I must be "IGNORANT!!!!!!" I don't know an unusual amount of black people (H.S. about 10%, went to MSU, white collar job for a few yrs), yet, still, almost everything on there I know black people who like it.

The site is not racist, just mostly incorrect, thus not that funny. The wine part was hilarious to me, but I still know black people who are wine snobs too. . Pointing this out makes me "IGNORENT!!!!!" ??? (I'm still guessing schtick)

No i'm not a schtick. I've been to many tailgates so i'm known by a few of the founding members. To me this thread does make fun of whitey but it also allows generalizations of the black race and having met a few black members and having lots of friends of different races I KNOW they would be offended by some of the comments made in this thread. In this day and age you would think college educated people would be aware of something u think is funny might be considered racist by the race your talking about. I. E. Fuzzy Zeoller?[spelling] saying when asked at Tiger Woods 1st masters win what his choices for the after dinner would be... fried chicken and collard greens.

I don't think i'm wrong but i would sure like to hear if any of our ethnic members think this is funny or acceptable.

Also, it seems that this list is targetting a very specific group of white people, namely East Coast prepster whities. There are millions of white people in the US who like none of these things, obviously. The only people who like organic food, want to visit Japan, and like Wes Anderson movies and indie muci live in Boston, LA, New York, or Chicago. Or Austin.

We're pretty much on the same page; I just wasn't clear in my first post. Saying "white people like" recycling is roughly saying black people don't like recycling, which is a false generalization. That's what I was pointing out....most of the examples are just wrong. It's like bad comics who highlight the smallest cultural difference and emphasize it the the nth degree, which I don't respect. But there are intelligent, productive ways to do something like this, such as Chris Rock's stand up. Thus, a website titled, "stuff white people like" isn't automatically racist or ignorant, it depends on how it is done.

I think the website is meant to be a left handed insult toward black Americans.

That being said, I would still guess that about half of minority America would find it somewhat funny, because many Americans give two ****s about sensitivity and political correctness.

SWPL is a backhanded insult at upper middle class, east coast liberals. Every Bostoner I know fits in to about 90% of the categories listed by that website. In all fairness, though, some are pretty far reaching like "White people love to travel!" Or course they do. Don't most people?

I think some people are missing the point. It's not necessarily every white person is supposed to like everything on the list. If you look at everything on that list though, you're going to find practically only white people. And that's why it's HUMOROUS.

I'm white, unfortunately. And I really think it is a funny list. If I was offended by a blog listing things that white people like, I would probably have to call my black friend and tell them what an awful world we live in and that we must shut this website down in order to put an end to ignorance and hate.

But as I said, it's attacking (if you want to call it an attack) a very specific group of white people which I find is hilarious, because that particular group (east coast liberals who have a degree in women's sudies from Mt. Hollyoke) are the most self righteous on the planet. Besides the french, of course.

This is another example of why I find the site pretty dumb. I've only had one person mention this movie to me and it was a black girl who said it's one of her favorite movies now.

The site offers some funny insight mostly about liberal east coast New England white people, but is mostly just completely wrong.
