I vote Calipari. The pipeline from Wes puts him over the top.

He is definitely in the "elite" of questionable coaches along with about 8 others I could name off the top of my head.

Huggins leads my list. I'll never forget his reaction after a loss to the Spartans - telling his players he hopes they have a terrible Christmas.

Calipari, Donovan, Huggins, Calhoun, and (some may not agree but I always had some sneaking suspicions...) Roy Williams all have this massive
AURA OF SLEAZE all around them.

Yeah, his connection to Worldwide Wes really makes you wonder what's going on down there. He was also one of the first coaches to hire parents of players he was recruiting as a tool of bringing them in. That's the main reason Dajuan Wagner went to Memphis. The connection to Wes and the fact that Calipari hired his father to work for the team.

Wes bartered that whole deal according to that GQ article last year. Wes got Dajuan's dad the job as Head of Basketball Operations at Memphis, and Memphis also had to give a schollie to Arthur Barclay (DaJuan's best friend).

would you throw Jim Boeheim in there with them? Because I might... (or maybe he's just pathetic. Who knows).

From their official site:
Calipari, with the help of the University, has asked several former players to come back and earn their degrees. Some of the beloved Tigers from the 1980s such as Bobby Parks and Andre Turner are taking Calipari up on his offer. Prior to Calipari arriving at Memphis, the basketball graduation rate was zero.
Right now it's 40% according to this pdf:
Link
State's at 67% for the record.

Yeah, I think that's where I read that. The GQ article is a little sensationalized in my opinion, but it's probably fairly accurate. I just wish Wes would actually talk to some reporters. It's almost guilt by secrecy, but I guess if he wants to keep to himself that's up to him.

It's weird. You can't even find many pictures of Wes on a google image search. Yet, it seems like he's everywhere.

I agree with Calipari and Donovan, and would throw Pitino in there (I don't know if there have ever been any accusations...he just seems like he's breaking some rules). I really just don't like Williams, but am not sure about Calhoun. He seems alright.

the guys been coaching Memphis for 8 years and there has never been one hint of a recruitng vilation raised. It seems to me that SD is just trying to soften the blow that is likely to come Friday night.
Spartan fans prove that they are are jsut as bad as fans from other schools and they rarely, if ever, take the high road..

It's not like Cal formed his own AAU program, put his kid in charge, then had his kid and his other peeps go out and recruit guys from around the country to come in and play for said AAU program....

It's funny, the picture you see most is when he was trying to hold Artest back during the brawl at the Palace. It's probably because that's the picture GQ used, but it still seems odd that it's the most common Wes picture.

They do have a close friend of the program who makes Uncle Ed look like a nobody. Is that fact enough?

Coaches more sleazy than Calipari:
Donovan
Huggie Beat/Cat/Mounty
Ernie Kent
The coach formerly known as Quinn Snyder
Tim Floyd
There are others. Calpiari isnt the model coach, but there are certainly some who take sleeze to a while new level.
