Looks like he may stick with the Wings during the playoffs - and not simply as a black ace.

Abdelkader was overjoyed by his debut, and Kopecky's injury may cement 'Abby's' spot in the lineup - Red Wings Snapshots - MLive.com

How we replace all that scoring (and power play to boot) is a big question. But Ratchuk's possible early exit opens up a big hole on the blue line as well. We didn't score so well in recruiting on D.
I hope Nill turns it out...I know he's drafted, but his numbers have not been that impressive in the BCHL:

He probably doesn't get a lot of ice time.

There is a 179MB 20 minute video on Mega Upload that you can download if you want. Just enter the 3-character code that appears on the screen into the box and then hit the download button. It's just more highlights of the game (not just Abdelkader) than what was put up on YouTube.

Awesome. Hopefully it'll still be available when I get home.

You shouldn't have any problems. It will be there until I delete it from my account, which means probably never.

There is no concept of a "playoff roster" in the NHL. Any player under contract is eligible to play in the playoffs once their minor league season is over. Since Grand Rapids has had a terrible year, pretty much any player under contract to the Red Wings will be eligible to play in the playoffs. Otherwise, if a player is assigned to the AHL, there is a limited number of callups between the trade deadline and the end of the AHL season. The Red Wings exhausted their last call up yesterday and cannot bring any more players aboard until Grand Rapids plays their final game. An NHL team can have up to fifty players under contract. Abdelkader was never assigned to Grand Rapids, so there is no restriction on his ability to play with the Red Wings.

He will remain with the Red Wings throughout the playoffs and may play depending on matchups, injuries, etc.

I'm not sure what the deal is with him. Someone told me late last year he'd skated with him, and compared him to Drew Miller. St. Louis has his rights. But he's been a healthy scratch a few times in Penticton.

Chris Mueller going pro?

Chris Mueller appears to have signed an amateur tryout with the Griffins, making him available for AHL playoff action.

You're welcome.

Like I said in an earlier post, a more all-encompassing video (double the length of the YouTube clip) of the game is available on Mega Upload for the taking.

The Griffins aren't going to the playoffs.

They do have two more games though. Good for him
