Excellent 18th century recipe, though I prefer them warm...

I'm half surprised that McDonalds doesn't offer them on their breakfast menu.

Yes they are. They would be the ultimate of deliciousness if they were wrapped in bacon!

The question is whether you'd wrap the sausage in bacon then coat in breadcrumbs and deep fry it........or would you deep fry it first, THEN wrap it in bacon. I suppose you could coat the sausage in breadcrumbs, deep fry it, wrap it in bacon, coat in more bread crumbs, then deep fry again.

Wrap the sausage in bacon, coat with breadcrumbs, then wrap in more bacon. You can never have too much bacon.

Yummy I had those for the first time during my last trip to England. Delish!
Makes me want a sausage roll, too (and no, that is not some kind of sexual thing).

If I just say "**** it" and decide I'm just going to be a fat guy from now on, I will heartily endorse this idea. In the meantime I'm going to cling to the thought that I might actually be able to get back down to a normal weight someday.

Yeah, I can justify eating them before running around in 90+ degree weather for several hours in three layers of wool and 25+ pounds of gear much easier than I can justify eating them before spending several hours drinking beer then sitting in the stands at a game.
