Question Black girl, white guy in a restaurant

Last night, I was at a Friday's having dinner with a friend of mine who happened to be black. We're friends, not dating and no relationship.

As we sat there, two unattractive white women sat sneering at us from a table next to us.

I heard "...take all the good men..."

And a lot of other racially charged comments. Luckily for them, my friend didn't hear them. (I have hyper-active hearing and I can hear **** like this all the time). That would have been an ugly scene and they would have looked like even bigger *******s than they were.

Have we really come anywhere in race relations? These women were about 28-35...so it's not like they were from the Brown V. Board of Education days. They've been raised in a society that encourages inclusion and tolerance of differences.

I was shocked. As I left, I looked directly at them and towards them. One of them got pissed, one of them buried her head in shame.

So, tRCMB...what's the deal? Do we talk a good game but don't follow through with it?

Does anyone here...honestly...have a problem with two people of different "races" and sexes having dinner together?

That's ridiculous.

But confronting them probably wouldn't do anything. People don't change.

When you hear things that no one else does? That's NOT "hyper-active hearing".

If (and im not being racist) the white girls were actually agressive and pursued guys instead of playing games and waiting for us to "woo" them, they would be better off. Even notice why girls who are flirtacious and agressive towards guys are rarely alone (yes can be whores too), but still not alone.

Imagine what your experience would have been like down here in the South.

My good friend here at work is white and she is dating a black man. You should see the looks they get when they are out in public here in Greensboro. She says that anytime they go out to a nice restaurant or go to one of the bars here in downtown GSO, they would both be dead 100 times by now if "looks could kill."

Pretty sad, but still happens in this day and age.

I think it bugs women more than men. If I see some black dude with a white chick then I'm more critical than a white dude with a black chick, because I dig black chicks and if she's cute I'd understand.

You think white women are bad, try bringing that black chick with you to a black area. Or even worse a white chick with a black dude in a black area. You won't get whispers....

Depends where this occurred, some areas are still in the era of Reconstruction no matter what year the calendar says it is.

Sounds like those two are just extremely bitter about their own situations.

You are right, though, it's absolutely ridiculous how backwards our society is.

Your hearing is supersonic...

We're J.J. Fad and we're here to rock
Rhymes like ours could never be stopped
See, there's three of us and I know we're fresh
Party rockers, non-stoppers, and our names are def
See, the 'J' is for just, the other for jammin'
The 'F' is for fresh, 'A' and 'D' def
Behind the turntables is DJ Train
Mixin' and scratchin' is the name of the game
Now here's a little somethin' 'bout nosy people
It's not real hard, it's plain and simple
Baby-D

Supersonic
Supersonic

Supersonic motivating rhymes are creating
And everybody knows that J.J. Fad is devastating
We know you like us girls so you better get stirl
'Cause we are the homechicks that are rockin' your world

Supersonic
Supersonic

Supersonic is a word when people start to listen
Especially bigger people, they pay close attention
You might not believe it, you might not even buy it
But when it comes to our lady (Beat Box), you might even try it

Supersonic
Supersonic

Now all you supersonic people try to bite our rhyme
You may think that you are def, but you're way (S-s-so) behind
You better listen good to what we have to say
'Cause when it comes to J.J. Fad you can get no play

Supersonic
Supersonic

Now he's the freshest DJ from coast to coast
My man can cut and scratch, but I don't mean to boast
He may be a little light, but that's okay
'Cause when he cuts to the beat it sounds this way
Hit it

Supersonic
Supersonic

Uh, uh, uh, yeah, it's finally my turn to rock the mic
Because my devastating beats I know you will like
You see my beat box is fresh, it'll blow your mind
And if you don't like my beats I'll go big in your behind
(Ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-uh-uh-ha)

Supersonic
Supersonic

Now you party people know what Supersonic means
We didn't try to brag 'cause J.J. Fad is just too clean
Now baby, don't you know that our rhymes are so bionic
Don't listen too hard, don't be Supersonic

Supersonic
Supersonic

You see, the 'S' is for super, and the 'U' is for unique
The 'P' is for perfection and you know that we are freaks
The 'E' is for exotic, and the 'R' is for raps
So tell those nosy people just to stay the hell back

Supersonic
Them big everlasting ears
Supersonic
They can hear what I say faster than I can say it
Supersonic
They better chill (Rock box)
It's like, it's like
She's Supersonic

Just because we don't live in Brown v. BOE times doesn't mean that society as a whole has matured. It sucks that you overheard what you did, but there are plenty of ignorant people around who have never left a 1 mile radius of their homes. I used to hear all kinds of **** as a kid, and I still do as an adult. Although the frequency of these events has decreased, I'd say the sting factor has increased some. Like you, I hoped that adults just know better and are more tolerant.

Very good points...and very true. On spring break this year, I was being a wing-man for my buddy and started talking to this girl's friend, who was black. The girl was awesome...we had a ton in common, so I actually loved hanging out with her over the week. But when we all went to the clubs, whenever I would dance with her, all of the black guys there would yell things out to me and give me ****. The ignorance is there on both sides and it's unbelievable how backwards the world is at times.
