I went to the link and the page was "deleted or missing". What does that mean?
If true, MSU has three QB's in one class, and the opportunity to lose two. Suppose one of Cousins or Foles leaves quickly, and then someone leaves when the new starter is picked. KNucklehead has already shown he won't ride the pine, so will he do it at MSU if he doesn't win the job for '09? If KN wins the job what does Foles and/or Cousins do? What does Maxwell do if he ends up E11 and sees KN in front of him for 3 seasons?
I don't have a problem putting the best players on the field, that said taking a kid who wouldn't even speak to you when he was a recruit, after saying he would, just doesn't sit right. It fundamentally changes the outlook for the guys who wanted to come to MSU from the start. IMO Dantonio is taking a big risk for a shiny object.

I thought I had this new coach figured, I thought we hadn't had someone with his honesty and integrity, I was wrong and I'm old enough that I should have know.
Cousins, Foles do the right thing, walk.

Didn't Foles decommit before coming to MSU? Should all of our defensive ends transfer because we accepted Anderson on a transfer? I could understand you point if we revoked the scholarship of our current players to bring him in, but they have the opportunity to compete which only improves the team.

Difference between Foles & KN is that Foles was told he was the lone QB recruit for ASU and when Erickson showed up he decided to recruit other QB's. ASU busted that deal. MSU didn't recruit other QB's in addition to KN, they took two afterward, and with both QB's knowing a two QB class was possible.
Now MSU has 3 QB's on the team or committed who have found out there's more competition than they bargained for. Hopefully they all stay, or at least it doesn't cause Maxwell to re-evaluate now that there could be a 3 year logjam in front of him.

Redshirt. Learn for 2 seasons as the backup (play when needed). Start for 2 years with a team full of Dantonio's recruits (which are looking pretty good so far).

I hope, or maybe just re-opens his recruitment and see what comes along. I would rather have Maxwell than Nichol.

This might have been discussed already, but its going to be nice having him run the scout team as a speedy qb.

And this would suck. But I cant fault Coach D for taking Nichol. When a good QB falls in your lap, you take him... always...regardless of who you have, or who you are supposed to have in a couple years.

No, KN sits this year while Maxwell redshirts, then has what 2 or 3 years to play? He's only used 1 year, and since he didn't redshirt, it would seem like he could call the year he sits his redshirt year, but maybe it counts as a year of eligibility. Don't think so though, cause that's not what happened w/ Trevor Anderson.

And the beauty is, he can run the scout team all season without having to be prepared to play. As dumb as this sounds, Keith Nichol could help MSU's d-backs get better this season.

After this season, Nichol has 3 years remaining.

No, there are a lot of reasons you don't take a star player. Ask Tressell about Clarett and the mess he caused in his short stay at OSU. KN could end up just as discontented at MSU as at OU, and who knows if/how that will cause problems. Like I said, MSU could lose more than 1 QB over this in the long term.

Nichol sits this year, Maxwell redshirts in 09. KN can play 09/10/11. Maxwell can play 10/11/12/13. Maxwell is in high school this year.

I don't think tRCMB is a good proxy for the over all feeling towards an MSU player--or even less a recruit. I have said it before, but I firmly believe that of the 75,000 people in Spartan Stadium on Saturdays at most 400 will know enough about Keith Nichol to have formed an opinion, the remainder--if they know his name at all--will only know about the feel good Joe Rexide story from the LSJ 'Keith Nichol Comes Home to be a QB Hero.'
