The competition should be good for all of them. I don't see Maxwell beating out Foles/Nichol/Cousins as a freshman or a sophomore however.

Not sure about that.
Many people here know insiders better than Paul K.
However, we don't post everything we hear because a) that'd be taking advantage of the trust our friends have on us, and b) it's a good way for them to lose their jobs and/or access to premium MSU sports info.

Some did, some didn't. Kids are kids, we need to treat them as such. However whenever or where ever that kid plays, I would want him on my team, I think I've always said as much.

I welcome him if he comes back officially, QB competition is an awesome thing to have. I never saw Cousins as a threat to Foles, now Foles has a threat. Only going to make Foles and KN work harder to get the job for 2009. Cousins won't be in the competition, and Maxwell will be years away.
|
Hate to break it to you but Cousins is way ahead of Foles right now. Cousins was the clear #2 in Spring ball. He is a better decision maker, has some mobility, and can make all the throws Foles can. Everyone thinks Foles is the QB of the future because he has a cannon for an arm but right now Foles is WAY behind Cousins in the maturation process.
Also Foles is a laid back guy as opposed to Cousins who is a competitive in your face kinda player.
I was one who thought the highest of Foles however from some of the players I know they all say Cousins is the future as of now.

So much for Clay Charles, as well as Burrell's shot at QB

I haven't heard much about the recruitment of his brother (maybe he's off our radar?) but I wonder IF this goes through, how it might affect that process...
but then again, I suppose that would require a position change, wouldn't it...

I'd say that the commitment of Maxwell took us out of the Kyle Nichol recruitment.

So because I can't see his posts but only quotes of them,
Does that mean that that moron PipersFly who couldn't write a coherent post, and said the most assinine **** possible when he was coherent, is finally gone?
Thank friggin' God.
I don't understand why everyone is ripping on Nichol for being talked out of something by his dad. It's not like he just went at the whim of some agent or coach, I'd say a lot of teenagers could be convinced to do something by their own father. I can't blame him for not being like "**** you, dad, I'm not gonna listen to you. I'm going to MSU and you can go to hell!"
His being on the team doesn't hurt anyone (except maybe the psyche of a few posters), and can only be a positive, either from his own play or by pushing other QBs to do well. I'll be looking forward to MSU football for a long time.

the whole thing, the nichol/ msu stuff, or the pipersfly part?
i could really go either way on whether or not nichol comes, cause I think is going to have a solid offense regardless, but if this whole thing means I never have to see PipersFly around here again, I'll be thrilled

I meant that I agreed on the Nichols stuff. I haven't seen Pipers Fly post in awhile, but if he's always as much of an idiot as he has been in this thread, I guess I would have to agree with you there too lol.

Wow..this thread is just full of surprises Thank you AA for pretty much confirming Jersey is the slickster....I will have to keep reminding him that I am going sack deep on his mom Julie
Second....as some have posted ...I trust in MD...with that said... I am really surprised if this comes to fruition...I really thought that ship had sailed. I would only hope or assume MD sat down or called all people involved (Foles, Cousins, Maxwell) and had everybody on the same page.
And good luck to Dixon

I didn't confirm anything. And don't do it, we'll just keep deleting it.

Whatever to all the tools and self checks. Does anyone remember the Clark Brown stuff and the circumstances that led to him being a MSU QB? Look at UCLA, one team can never have enough QB talent. I am happy if is happy.

as previously stated, this audio clip makes this thread even more amusing:
Terp's Take: Keith Nichol will not return to MSU per insider Paul "it's not gonna happen" K of Spartanmag - 05-12-08
and for all of those who believe cousins will transfer, wants to go to western, etc.:
LSJ Blogs: Hey, Joe: The Keith Nichol saga
Quote:
The Keith Nichol saga
I need a new word for "saga," someone help me out. Here's the latest, as far as I can gather, at 8:44 p.m. on Thursday, May 15: Nichol and Michigan State have not officially agreed to rejoin forces.
That's not to say it won't end up happening. That's not to say there isn't some mutual interest. An Internet report, posted a couple hours ago or so and since pulled, indicated via anonymous sources that Nichol to MSU was official and that current quarterbacks Nick Foles and Kirk Cousins had been informed by MSU today.
Cousins' father, Don Cousins, expressed surprise when I called him and told him of the report.
"No, I've not been told that, and Kirk's not been told that," Don Cousins said. "I talked to him today, and I think if he would have been told that, he probably would have told me."
I'm still waiting on a call back from the Foles family, and from the Nichols, and from the people at Guiness to let me know if Keith Nichol is officially the most-speculated-about teenager in U.S. history. I think Lindsay Lohan still holds the record.
Speaking of record, MSU can't speak on it about this situation because Nichol is a recruitable prospect right now. If and when he signs, MSU will announce it. Until then, if there's a verbal agreement in place, the Nichols may choose to reveal it. That would be nice. And after all this, if he ends up in Ann Arbor, you have to admit, that would be kind of funny, wouldn't it?
One thing I feel confident in reporting at this point: Kirk Cousins won't be deterred if Nichol joins the Hoyer Successor Sweepstakes. Don Cousins made that quite clear, pointing out that Foles joined MSU after Cousins had signed, decommitting from Arizona State after a coaching change there.
"Whether Nick comes a week later, whether Keith comes, whether Marc Sanchez transfers from USC, it's not gonna change Kirk's perspective," Don said.
That perspective is, work as hard as possible and control what you can control. This is out of Cousins' control, "so why waste three seconds thinking about it?" Don asked. "Success is putting forth your best effort to the glory of God. If you play and win, great. If not, you're still a success."
Cousins, a darkhorse 2007 recruit, is right there with Foles after spring ball, as you should know. He also carries a 4.0 GPA after his freshman year, by the way. Don also pointed out that highly touted Midland prospect Andrew Maxwell is due to arrive in the fall of 2009.
"It'd be a four-way race, not a three-way race," Don said.
It sounds like Cousins will be part of it regardless. If Nichol does return to the place he originally committed to, he'll have to sit next year, and then he'd be eligible in 2009. Foles, Cousins, Nichol, Maxwell. Here's one prediction I feel very confident about making: All four of those names won't appear on the | | | |
