Connor Dixon Transferring?

Sorry, didn't see a thread title on this, and I didn't feel like wading through the 11 page Nichol thread.

I don't know, this article lacks the usual "an ultra inside source and great friend of mine who is an insider with the MSU program and wants to remain nameless but is a close personal friend of mine confirms...." wording, so you have to wonder if its just speculation

Without actually reading the article (lazy), the coaches were going to move him to safety, I believe. I doubt this has much to do with Nichols...maybe he just wanted to go to a place where he could play QB.

I'd say that a transfer in and a transfer out is a wash.

I enjoyed watching him play, but I can understand why he'd want to transfer somewhere he can get more playing time in - especially when it looks like he probably won't have the top dog spot next year. I wish him well...unless he goes to M*ch*g*n....then he is dead to me.

I would rather keep a kid that wants to be here. Whoever that may be. Connor looks to be a good kid and a decent QB (I don't rate do to spring ball) I would take him over KN right now but if he feels he needs to leave good luck to him. KN is not here until he signs so therefore does not matter to me.

He never had the arm strength for a pro style offense. With his ability to make plays with his feet and decent arm strength, he felt he should go to a spread offense. We weren't going to keep him at QB, so if he wanted to play QB he had to leave. I wish him the best and I hope he has success wherever he goes!

Too bad, I would have like to see what he could do. Only have spring game MSU to eval him on, but his HS tapes looked great. would have been well served to give him a legit shot this year. Game management would take a while, but he has more upside than Hoyer. In fact, of the 3 QBs at the spring game, Hoyer was easily the most Hoyer-able.

Good luck to CD!

Dixon did not play in the spring game this year. Was injured and moving positions. A lot of people liked him in 2007 since he played the best, but the writing had been on the wall with him as a QB once Foles and Cousins (both more natural passers) got onto campus.

I would not be surprised to have him move to a Div-II school (ala Ornstein) to get to play right away at QB.

He should go to GVSU and win a couple of NCAA title rings.

I think he would probably start this fall if he did in fact go to GVSU.

If they're both eligible, it's virtually meaningless.

If this is the case look for him to be the next Bradlee Van Pelt. In other words the kid that didn't get a chance at QB, so he transferred and then tore it up in a smaller conference against average competition and thusly half the RCMB rips MSU a new one for not making this guy the starter.

That said, if Connor Dixon is indeed leaving good luck to him.

The last thread on this disappeared before there was even one reply?

What was wrong before or what is safe now?

See my thread titled "So Hondo is no longer a quotable source?"

The thread was here and by the time I clicked on it, it had been deleted...

No clue what you're talking about. No thread about this has been deleted. Are you talking about the duplicate thread from this morning that was merged into this one from last night?

The writing has been on the wall for awhile now. Foles had moved ahead of him on the depth chart, he had surgery, considered a move to WR, was out of the spring game (notice our WR depth at that game....Deep.), and now with KN coming in, I think that was the final straw. Too bad, as I think he was a good kid all-around, but I hope he can go and play somewhere quick, maybe like a D2 school closer to home. (IUP?)

Dixon Talks About Transferring From MSU
Quote:
"It's true, I'm no longer at Michigan State," said Dixon. "I do not know (where I'm going); I'm in the process of looking for a place to play."

One thing Dixon wanted to make clear was that the rumors of Keith Nichol joining the Spartans had nothing to do with his decision.

"No, actually I had no idea about (the) Nichol (rumors) until yesterday. I just feel that a lot of things didn't go my way or how I expected," he said.
