you have serious reading comprehension issues in addition to being utterly delusional about how Red Wing fans perceive Stevie. The majority here have said Stevie and Gordie are top 2, but Lidstrom COULD surpass Yzerman if he plays another 5 years and the Wings win a few more cups with him as Captain. No one - NO ONE - has suggested Stevie is anything but one of the greatest of all time. your position that Stevie is somehow maligned is simply delusional. Even those who think Lidstrom might have the edge over Yzerman aren't saying he wasn't great. it's not either/or. Everyone (but you) agrees they are both all-time greats, but were having a fine debate over which might be the better of the two. Whichever one chooses in that argument, it isn't a slight against the other - but a tremendous compliment to both.
We are fortunate to be able to debate which of two modern players are the best in terms of each being top 5 of all time at their positions.

But when Cousins gets sacked with less than five minutes to go in the 4th, shouting "****ing son of a ********ing bitchwhore" is a whole lot more cathartic than saying "you know, my good chap, the inability of our offensive line to block has me quite frustrated." - fishrose

He has been banned from several Wings message boards and apparently was seeking out another forum to spread his drivel when he found this one.

This makes all kinds of sense. It seemed like he was playing us all early on in this thread, but then he'd make one or two rational comments, making me believe he just might be serious (but hopelessly misguided.)

I was in the Joe for that game. The crowd was completely silent as if we were all looking at each other asking "does that actually count?" And Coffey was traded in the offseason.

I heard Ted Lindsay once say that "Gordie Howe was the greatest hockey player he ever saw, but Steve Yzerman was the greatest Red Wing."
Of course. much of that is due to Lindsay's falling out with Howe over the players union battles Terrible Ted had with the league and Jack Adams. Howe sided with Adams over Lindsay, which resulted in Lindsay being traded to the Blackhawks with Wings' backup goalie Glenn Hall in 1957.
IMO, the case could be made that Yzerman is the best Red Wing ever, but I'm not going to lose sleep over that considering what Howe accomplished.
It's like asking Chicago Bears' fans who their greatest halfback is, Walter Payton and Gale Sayers?
1. Howe
2. Yzerman
3. Sawchuck (tragic figure, great goaltender)
4. Lidstrom
5. Red Kelly (just throwing that name out for ****s and giggles)
