Last year I heard how great he was playing and then in games he did nothing (although he was not in very much). Am I alone on this?

I got an idea - Stop listening to dorks on message boards talk about how good a player is playing in the offseason.

Truth, he got sick last summer and the weight he was supposed to put on never materialized. It's one of the reasons he didn't see a lot of playing time last year, as it's ridiculously hard to put on weight during the season with all the practices and games. Hopefully this year he'll be a very good backup to Suton in the 5 spot along with a hopefully improved Ibok, should he keep gaining weight up to the start of practice. Herzog looks like a classic post up player when he's in, give the skinny guy some weight and another year and he should be fine. If all those pieces fall together and we see an improved Morgan/Gray (we know he has the athleticism, just stop shuffling the feet dude) /Roe/Green on the 4 spot, the interior game of MSU could be a very intimidating thing next year.

I did see Herzog earlier this week and he looks like he put on a LITTLE weight. I wouldn't get carried away. Funny, when watching him practice a little I was thinking how hard it's going to be for the poor kid to ever put on weight.

I am still not putting a lot of faith to Herzog this season.

Herzog and Hansborough should NEVER be mentioned on the same thread. Hansborough would out muscle Herzog, if Hansborough had no hads and feet.
Its like comparing Carle Malone to Manute Bol.
Great that Herzog is a , MSU would be extremely lucky if he could be as productive as Naymick. He is rail thin, does not have the strength or the quickness to compete down low in the B11. Maybe he can be serviceable in 2 years, but he will get killed down there.
Probally a great practice player, and a guy to get clean up minutes at the end of halves.

Give me a little credit! I was only comparing Hansborough's relative height/wieght (6-9/250) to Herzog's (7-0/~250), smiply to suggest that he is now on par (weight and height-wise) with other D1bigs.
I wasn't comparing Herzog's skills to those of Hansborough, it never entered my mind to do so!
There's no need for me to place ANY expectations on this kid, that's what Izzo and his coaches are paid handsomely to do. I trust them to bring out Herzog's abilities, whatever those prove to be, when (he) is ready to produce.

I probably would have compared his weight against a 7 footer with decent size....like Kosta Koufos, but that's just me

About 265. He wasn't a power post player, but he had enough bulk at 7'0" 265 that he wasn't getting pushed around.

Unfortunately, he didn't come to mind at the time, or I would have also. I just didn't think of him.

Comp's summer blend kool-aid is refreshing.

500k for one year with a 1 million dollar bonus if he completed his sophomore season.
