Newspaper story Herzog, Allen, basketball news - SpartanMag

Great read if you've got access. Herzog has put on 18 pounds so far. Allen is supposedly more ripped. Trip to Canada cancelled...more inside.

A lot of schools do pre-season Canadian tours (usually around labor day). It doesn't count, but gives teams a little more experience. You can only do it once every 4 years. Izzo was going to take this team to Canada to help them get acclimated.

Dang, that would have been cool. Where were they going to go in Canada, anyone know?

What's his total weight now? What does he need to be at to be effective? He looks like he weighs 215 should he be around 260? He runs well for his size... I think he'll end up being a solid B11 Center

He's probably right around 250 right now. 260-265 would probably be ideal for banging down low. In any event, he's made some great strides in that department and it's only June. Hopefully he doesn't get sick again and lose it all.

per urbandictionary...

Purple Drank is an illegal recreational drink popular in the Southern United States rap community, whose main ingredients originally consisted of prescription strength cough syrup, containing codeine and promethazine, and either a carbonated soft drink (generally Sprite) or fruit juice. The purple-ish hue of Purple Drank comes from the dyes in the cough syrup. Recently, the term has expanded to cover mixtures including over-the-counter cough syrup and vodka in place of prescription cough syrup. Other terms for Purple Drank include Barre, Oil, Purple Tonic, Lean (or Southern Lean,) Drank, and Syrup (which is sometimes slangly pronounced as Sizzurp.)

The active ingredient of purple drank is codeine, an opiate medication contained in prescription strength cough syrups due to its antitussive properties. Some prescription cough syrups also contain anti-histamine medications, such as promethazine, which have a mild sedative effect. When taken in large quantities, both medications can lead to sedation and altered levels of consciousness.

Houston producer DJ Screw first popularized the concoction, which is widely attributed as a source of inspiration for the "chopped & screwed" style of hip hop music. Originally, the active ingredient of "Syrup" was cough syrup containing promethazine and codeine. The concoction first gained popularity in the underground Houston, Texas rap scene and later spread to other southern states.

That's right I forgot he was sick... he looks like a hell of an athlete to me and I WAS starting center for my middle school team... I was going to go pro but I decided I liked being 5'8" instead...

I think they got the origin wrong -- from the description, this drink is clearly:

Herzog and Allen

I saw a headline on Rivals saying Izzo was really happy/impressed with the physical conditioning of Allen and Herzog this summer. I don't have Rivals anymore so can anyone give me an update?

He won't get sick...'cause it's his turn for the stress fracture.

Tyler Hansborough is 6-9 and 250, maybe he only needs to gain a few more pounds.
