UNO'S

I was in Grand Rapids this afternoon and saw that the UNO's on Kalamazoo Avenue is now called "Malarkey's". Went in there for an early dinner, and let the truth be known...they're trying to copy UNO's and they FAIL.

Worst pizza I've ever had. Deep dish with a rock-hard crust and some thick crap tomato paste imported from God knows where. Horrible.

The waitress assured me that the only thing that changed was the name. She said the owner's parted ways with the UNO franchise, but the food was still the same. I'm sure they told her to say that. Trust me, it ain't the same.

Five hours later and I still have a stomach-ache from that crap. Beware my friends. Beware.

This guy must have stock in UNO's...UNO's is jacking up it's franchise fees to try and raise cash and keep afloat.

The 2 UNO's in GR went independent to keep from getting dragged down with the sinking ship.

Maybe you got a bad pizza, maybe you just like chain restaurants.

I gotta believe if the sign hadn't been changed, you wouldn't have a post tonight.

I guess the real test will be who is still around in a year, UNO's or Malarkey's. Or better yet, if UNO's decides to put in a corporate owned restaurant to compete with Malarkey's.

Look, I'm telling you there's no comparison. UNO's is pretty good pizza. Malarkey's is horrendous.

I don't own stock in a goddamn pizza joint. I was just trying to warn my fellow RCMB'ers so they can avoid a stomach-ache.

more has changed than the name....you dont go from a franchise operation with proprietary items to an independent who no longer has access to these items, without a change in recipes. I know they also have shopped out their distributors trying to bring in the cheapest items they can find....do the math, thats never a successful strategy for quality...that being said, i thought the restaurant sucked before, so who knows, maybe ill like this menu better

The Uno franchise had gone downhill awhile ago. We went a few months ago, and it was some of the worst pizza i've ever eaten.

I wasn't suprised to see the "Malarky's" name.

None of the franchise stores are the same as the originals in Chicago............NONE !!

Similar style food, cooked totally in a different way. Ever notice that the pizza you get in the franchise stores comes to your table very quickly (compared to the real Uno's? There are reasons for that, and it does not involve quality.

Yep, the UNO's franchise pizza is terrible...changing the name and serving the same crap won't help matters.
